Friends Of Essex & London Homeless

Grays, UK

We are an independent non-funded non-profit charity who run two outreaches a week, one in Charing Cross and the other in Grays. Due to being a non funded charity we rely solely on donations and every donation we receive makes a huge impact on someone's life. We can see between 150 to 200 people/families per week and seeing more families than ever at our Grays community outreach. We offer a hot home cooked meal, hot and cold drinks, adult and children's clothing, toiletries, bread, cakes, fruit, veg and a food bank bag containing non perishable foods We started our journey in December 2016 and became a registered charity in May 2018 we do so much more then just hand food out we are a listening hear a shoulder to cry on and also work alongside local services to help assist where ever possible We started our foodbank back in 2020 due to the pandemic and it has continued ever since due to so many people struggling with the cost of living crisis and now giving out up to 40 bags each week, nappies, baby milk, school uniform, children's reading books and more We feel extremely passionate as a local charity about giving back to our community and by doing this it allows anyone in need of a little help access to healthy foods, fresh produce and pantry staples and help people get connected to other essential information and benefits that may be of interest to them and they are unaware of We are completely transparent in what we do and you see via any of our social media platforms We would like to pass our thanks on to the stores that donate their surplus foods as it makes a huge impact to how many people we can help and what we collect locally always goes back in the community
