The Open Heaven Church Pantry, run entirely by volunteers, officially opened in December 2020 and the church is a registered charity No 1123352. It aims to help local families in need, relieving and helping to prevent poverty by means of food provision and is a franchise of the national Your Local Pantry network. Our Pantry is a membership-based food club and sources its food from supermarket surplus and donations to help local people struggling to meet their bills for as long as they need help. Our members, currently just over 100, can visit the Pantry once a week for a fee of £5.50. This enables them to choose food items to the value of around £15. In addition, members can choose free fresh produce e.g. fruit, vegetables, pasta and bakery items for no additional cost. The membership fee is used by the Pantry to purchase top-up food stocks as required. We desperately need more donations to provide food to those in need. We have many people who do not have enough money to pay the weekly fee and so we provide free visits and crisis provision.

The Sikh Soup Kitchen is a volunteer-led charity based in Handsworth, Birmingham, guided by the Sikh principle of Langar—a free kitchen open to all, regardless of background or faith. Each year, Sikh Soup Kitchen serves around 40,000 hot meals, offering reliable nourishment to people experiencing homelessness and financial difficulty. This combination of food and essential supplies creates immediate, tangible impact. Beyond this, the organisation supports longer-term wellbeing by connecting individuals with services that can assist with housing, healthcare, and financial guidance. It also plays an active role in strengthening community ties, bringing together volunteers and local groups to build a more inclusive and supportive Birmingham. Run entirely by volunteers, the charity ensures that 100% of donations go directly toward frontline support, maximising the value of every contribution. Its growing reach and consistent delivery make it a vital and trusted resource within the community.
