A group of Churches uniting to alleviate food poverty by operating "Top Up" Shops from various Churches in Ipswich through redistribution of surplus food and non food items. Also creating an access point for people to use the services of outside agencies such as debt advice, healthy living, and general wellbeing.

Initially, Emmaus Suffolk will provide work opportunities and experience to those who have been unemployed for a long time. By offering volunteering roles within our (not for profit) business we want to give people the chance to make a difference for themselves, in a supportive environment through work related training. We will follow the proven Emmaus Social Enterprise model which has been successfully implemented across the UK, by setting up a charity shop restoring and selling recycled furniture. Once the social enterprise is income generating, surpluses will support a Community House where the volunteers can live. Companions (our volunteers that are homeless or workless) will be provided with employment, training, increased skills and experience, knowledge and self-respect and a place to live. Independent research by Cambridge University in 2008 showed that with the potential savings to the criminal justice, legal and health systems, an Emmaus Community has the potential to save the tax payer over £24,000 per resident each year.

We support local families facing hardship by providing food, essential household items, and children’s toys throughout the year. Our mission is to bring relief, dignity, and hope to families in crisis, especially those affected by poverty, low income, or unexpected life challenges. We work to ensure that no family in our community has to go without the essentials. 🌈 How we help Distributing weekly food parcels, clothes,hygiene items and household essentials to families in need. Providing children’s toys, clothing, and essentials. Organising seasonal drives (Christmas, Easter, Back to School) to support local children 🙏 What we need We are seeking ongoing community support through: Surplus or end-of-line food and essentials Children’s toys and household goods Toiletries, cleaning products, and baby supplies Occasional festive or seasonal donations Every contribution — big or small — helps a family in need and strengthens our community.
