GAIL's Bakery Newbury

The Newbury Community Resource Centre Limited helps local people by providing furniture, household goods, training and services to support independent living. We help people to develop work and social skills, and encourage environmentally beneficial activities by promoting re-cycling and re-use. We also provide daily breakfast and lunch for the volunteers who attend the project.

Newbury Soup Kitchen was opened in January 2017 by Meryl Praill who wanted to feed the homeless and vulnerable in Newbury Berkshire on a day they were not being catered for by other charities. We are proactive not reactive. Our ethos is to treat everyone equally, feed them sit and chat, listen in a non judgemental way. We lend a listening ear, laugh and try to, for two hours take some of the woes of homelessness away. We have worked to find employment, mentor and support our clients. A friendly welcoming armosphere. All welcome.

Promote the well being of the residents of bishops green & the immediate neighbourhood, without distinction of gender, race, sex, political, religious etc. to be achieved by associating together the residents & local authorities, voluntary & other organisations in an effort to provide facilities with the object of improving the conditions of life for all residents. We're particularly hoping to reopen our youth club in the village hall.
