Together In Westminster Community is a community-led organisation dedicated to empowering families, women, and young people through cultural, educational, and wellbeing programmes. We provide a safe, inclusive space for learning, support, and community connection, especially for refugees, migrants, and low-income families in Westminster and surrounding areas. Our centre includes a multi-purpose community hall, meeting and classroom spaces, and a small kitchen where we prepare and distribute food to families and individuals in need. We identify service users through a combination of: Community outreach, Referrals from local Cllrs, faith organisations, and Westminster City Council departments, Direct engagement with families already attending our centre,Ongoing needs assessments via one-to-one conversations. All our services, including food support, are provided entirely free of charge to individuals and families facing hardship. We are committed to removing barriers and supporting our community without creating additional financial pressure. we provide: Free Arabic language classes for refugee and migrant women, Wellbeing and creative workshops for women and families, Signposting and support for housing, education, and employment, Youth engagement, volunteering and leadership programmes, Interfaith and cultural events to build community cohesion, Support with digital inclusion and school applications All services are provided with a focus on dignity, accessibility, and cultural sensitivity. At present, we do not collect surplus food from any retailers. We currently rely on small-scale donations from individuals in the community, including families who want to give back and occasional support from local well-wishers. Central London Samaritans is the founding branch of Samaritans. We opened in 1953 at St Stephen Walbrook and have listened every hour of every day since. We are an independent charity (no. 1171330) based at 13 Salisbury Place, Marylebone, and part of the national Samaritans network. Our 400 trained volunteers give confidential, non-judgemental emotional support to anyone who is struggling to cope, for whatever reason. We answer over 50,000 calls for help a year by phone and online, one every ten minutes, and our drop-in at Salisbury Place is open 9am to 9pm, seven days a week, with no appointment or referral needed. We also take listening to the people at highest risk of suicide: homeless people at outreach sessions, prisoners at HMP Brixton and HMP/YOI Isis, people in police custody, ambulance call handlers, and, through Facing the Future, people bereaved by suicide. This year we are also out at universities, including the University of Westminster. Every £1 donated to us unlocks almost £5 of volunteer-delivered support, and 86p in every £1 we spend goes directly on our charitable services (year ended 31 March 2025, audited).
