GAIL's Bakery Sevenoaks

The Swanley Community Cupboard, based at Elim Church, stands as a vital and welcoming hub for local residents facing food insecurity and other challenges. More than just a food bank, it is a non-judgmental support service providing essential groceries and a range of practical aid to individuals and families in the Swanley area. Operating with a focus on compassion and dignity, the Cupboard aims to reduce the stigma associated with asking for help, ensuring everyone who walks through its doors is met with a friendly smile and a warm welcome. The service goes above and beyond simply supplying food parcels. It is a true community beacon that offers signposting to over 20 different local and national agencies, helping users tackle underlying issues such as debt, mental health, and employment struggles. By acting as a bridge to other crucial support services, the Cupboard empowers people to get back on their feet. Additionally, the Elim Church location often doubles as a warm, safe space where individuals can enjoy a hot drink, connect with others, and find a listening ear from dedicated volunteers. It embodies the spirit of local solidarity, making a tangible difference to countless lives through the generosity of its donors and the commitment of its team.

The Sevenoaks Larder (formerly The Lockdown Larder) helps residents of Sevenoaks (including Dunton Green, Kemsing, Otford, Riverhead, Seal, Sundridge, Weald) who are struggling to pay for their weekly food shop. Set up by the Care for Our Community Team in Sevenoaks, we want to spread a message of hope and compassion, especially during these difficult times. We believe that a single action can make a difference in the community, and collective actions can make the world a better place. The Sevenoaks Larder will supply a basket of fresh & packaged produce of their choice, including meat, fish, fruit & vegetables, to help the household out, until they are able to get back on their feet again. Our team of volunteers will deliver these items for free, directly to their homes.

House in the basement is a café for young people aged 11-18, we have free Wi-Fi and the use of computers and iPads. We have a Wii and X-box 360 with a wide selection of games including Fifa 16. The House offers a warm and safe environment for young people to hang out with friends or chat to Youth Workers, we have Volunteers from SAYT Sevenoaks area youth trust) who come in on Wednesdays and on Fridays we have a West Kent alcohol advisor who does a selection of activities in warning young people the dangers of drugs and alcohol. As we have cooking facilities we have a small menu available, you can have the daily special with a drink for just £2.50 or choose from Burgers, Sausages and Fish fingers with oven fries for £2.00, we also do delicious Milk shakes made with ice cream. If you join up for membership, we throw in a free drink and 10% of food orders for your first 3 months.
