Dads Rock

Edinburgh, UK

Dads Rock believe that children thrive when dads thrive. We organise activities for parents (but with a particular focus on Dads) to help them to look after and engage with their children in a fun and positive way. We help them understand and develop the emotional capacity for positive relationships both within their family and with the professionals who are there to help them. We believe that children thrive when dads thrive. Dads Rock aim to improve the lives and life chances of children under 5, many of whom are at risk of marginalisation. This includes working in deprived areas to help dads, children and families in most need of support. Our focus is on supporting dads who are often excluded from current parenting services. It was founded in 2012 by two Dads, who wanted to be more involved with their children, but could not find any established support network. We work to help Dads, children and families in most need of support through: - weekly playgroups for Dads/male carers and their children - providing 1:1 mentoring and support for young and vulnerable dads in Edinburgh, Ayrshire, Dundee & Glasgow - delivering antenatal and other parenting workshops to Dads and Mums, both online and in person - providing online peer support for Dads during the Perinatal stage - WhatsApp community for Dads By doing this work we also hope to raise awareness and fight gender stereotypes to support a shift in society toward accepting the vital role Dads play. It has been proven that this is beneficial to children, as it helps with their attainment at school improving chances in later life.

Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity

Edinburgh, UK

We’re here to support the life-changing work of Edinburgh’s Royal Hospital for Children and Young People. Every year, every day, every hour we work tirelessly to provide seriously ill babies, children, young people and their families with the extra support they need when facing a potentially life-changing hospital visit. Our wonderful NHS colleagues provide world class medical treatment and care; with your help, ECHC brings more than medicine. We’re speeding up recovery, taking away fear; providing reassurance, distraction and fun every step of the way. Despite the greatest challenges a child can face, the hospital is a place where being sick doesn’t always mean being sad. No child wants to be in hospital, but for those who must be, ECHC is there to make that experience as positive as possible.
