We are DOORWAYS MIDDLESBROUGH we are a non-profit registered charity run by a small group of dedicated volunteers and we run from our cafe/hub at 9-11 Princes road in Middlesbrough TS1 4BD ❤️We serve a hot, homemade & filling meals and desserts (including halal & vegetarian to be inclusive) ❤️We have a range of hot & cold beverages too. ❤️We make up food parcels for individuals or families. ❤️People have the choice whether they want to eat in or take out, whichever they feel most comfortable with. ❤️We have an open door policy so we do not turn anyone away. Anyone who comes to us in need eg homeless, near homeless, veterans, refugees, students, ex offenders, needy, vulnerable, benefits sanctioned, the elderly on low pensions, families on low income etc will be fed and looked after. We have people of all ages and all walks of lives who use our services and we open our arms out to anyone. ❤️We are a safe space with the relevant safeguarding training. Everyone who comes to us is treated with dignity & respect. We do not judge here. ❤️We work at a grassroots level and alongside lots of other organisations such as; Cleveland police, the council, the homeless team, hepatitis team, sexual health services, nurses, job centre, substance misuse workers, social workers, mental health workers. This is so we can refer our service users to the appropriate services so they can get the best possible help. ❤️We make up hygeine bags made up with items such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body bath wipes, toothpaste and toothbrushes etc and hand out period products whenever asked. ❤️ We hand out clothes and shoes for adults and children (including school uniforms) ❤️ We give out blankets, pillows, sleeping bags and tents. ❤️ We are open 3 times a week 11am-2pm and 1 Sunday a month for a Sunday dinner. ❤️ We do one evening a week with Cleveland police for our local sex workers, vulnerable women and Trans women where we give them hot food, a safe space to talk and work with the police and sexual exploitation team and have services coming out doing sexual health tests and handing out condoms and other essentials. ❤️ We get over 75 people each time were open and with the current cost of living crisis we are getting more and more coming to us . ❤️Our premises has a walk in shower/wet room so our service users can get themselves cleaned up and get a fresh, clean set of clothes on. ❤️We have laundry facilities so people can get their clothes washed and dried. ❤️ EVERYTHING we provide is FREE for our service users. ❤️ We rely solely on generous donations and always need help with things such as - - More food & drinks - Takeaway boxes/cups - Utilities - Premises rent - Toiletries - Blankets - Pillows - Sleeping bags - Tents You're welcome to checkout our Facebook page for more info & pics: Doorways Middlesbrough Thank you for reading and thanks for any help. We have two main priorities, waste reduction and anti poverty so we tackle poverty sustainably, reducing single use waste and preventing unnecessary items from entering landfill. We are passionate about our environment and we are passionate about people. We provide reusable sanitary products to eliminate period poverty for the recipients, with products lasting for upwards of a decade. We currently cover Flintshire & Wrexham. We collect and deliver fresh, nutritious food from store to door, 7 days a week; tackling in work poverty, hunger, food waste and malnutrition. Christmas Eve 2023 saw us provide food to over 26,000 people; using surplus food that would have perished in warehouses during the holiday store closures. Between 24-31st December 2023, we redistributed over 110 tonnes of surplus food! We collect, restore and redistribute baby essentials to those unable to afford them. We support and enable the use of reusable nappies for all, providing them for free for those in need, for as long as required. We currently actively cover Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham but support can be accessed from residents of bordering counties. We impose no criteria as we believe it takes a significant amount of pride swallowing to ask for help. We enable beneficiaries to retain their dignity by providing whichever service is required anonymously. We’re not too sure if we’re innovators or a bit bonkers but it works! History: Wrexham Nappy Library was born in November 2015 to aid and enable the use of real nappies for people in need in the Wrexham County. This began with free trials of a variety of types of nappy with full support and guidance. Within a short period of time, newer versions of brands were released. Now, it is essential to keep trial kits up to date. As a result, we were left with a huge surplus of obsolete but perfectly functional nappies which we decided to offer to struggling families for as long as they needed, free of charge, with the simple request that upon cessation of use, they're returned to benefit another family. We began tackling period poverty in 2016, initially by adding menstrual cups to long term loan kits but quickly revised our methods and make them available to all. We commenced food deliveries in 2017 to tackle hunger discreetly, and to divert food waste from landfill. We also get infrequent donations of baby clothes and goods which are passed on for free to families who need them - returns of these items are not requested, instead we politely ask the families to pay them forward.

Hays Gets Neighbourly 2026
Charities and good causes are under enormous pressure. Faced with an increasing demand for services, dwindling financial support, and a shortage of staff, their vital work supporting vulnerable people and local communities is at risk. But when businesses come together and lend their aid, it’s possible to make a difference. For the fourth year running, Hays is getting Neighbourly in 2026 to assist a range of good causes across the country. This year’s campaign includes dedicated volunteering events running throughout May and into mid-June, building on the paid volunteering hours Hays provides employees through our ‘Helping for your tomorrow’ initiative and wider commitment to social purpose. This year, we are aiming to collectively volunteer over 3000 hours with local good causes. Get involved to help make Hays Gets Neighbourly 2026 the most successful yet.
