London Ambulance Charity

London, UK

The London Ambulance Charity (LAC) is the official registered NHS charity dedicated to raising voluntary income to support the London Ambulance Service (LAS). The London Ambulance Service provides life-saving care to millions of people every year. We’re the busiest ambulance service in the UK and the only NHS organisation to serve the whole of London, and have the reputation and trusted profile to match. The charity raises vital funds to add value in areas that are beyond what is capable solely with statutory government funding, enabling LAS to continue to invest in areas such as: - Supporting the wellbeing of over 10,000 LAS staff and volunteers - Promoting innovation, transformation and efficient new ways of working - Providing volunteer and staff amenities - Helping staff deliver front-line patient care more effectively During the most challenging times, LAS staff and volunteers are first on the scene, caring for patients, comforting loved ones and carrying the emotional and physical toll – demonstrating relentless commitment. We provide wellbeing spaces and gardens at LAS offices and ambulance stations. We fund Staff Networks to recognise and celebrate diversity and ensure LAS staff have supportive conversations with peers and refreshments through Wellbeing Support Vehicles (WSVs) and Cafes, which we are seeking food/drink donations for. The Charity also delivers a Hardship Fund to support LAS colleagues who find themselves in financial difficulties. We centralise food/drink collections for our Wellbeing Cafes and WSVs project from our Head Office based in Waterloo but operate the project and distribute refreshments and snacks across London. All colleagues and volunteers Trust-wide have access to our Wellbeing Services, which includes the Wellbeing Cafes and WSVs. Other than our Wellbeing Cafes and WSVs, we support community resilience projects across London through the delivery of teaching life-saving CPR, and defibrillator skills to local schools and communities. We support our community of volunteers through access to additional training, technology, and appreciation events. We fund station-based environmental improvements to enhance the experience of staff and volunteers whilst on shift. We do not charge for the services we provide. We do not currently collect surplus food from any other retailers. We can provide photographs of our Wellbeing Cafes and WSVs, alongside our pan-London community resilience work in our local communities.
