Dereham Community Fridge has been launched to give local businesses and individuals a way to donate food that is passed its ‘best by’, but within its ‘use by’ date, that would otherwise be thrown away. Anyone who would like to use the food can come and take items from the fridge for free. There's no paperwork, appointments or referrals. Just come during our weekday opening times of 10am -1pm. Please note doors open at 9.30am to queue and get a free hot drink. The main aims of Dereham Community Fridge are twofold: to reduce food waste and to get surplus food into the hands of those who can use it.

Opening Times, Tuesday 12.30-2.30pm and Thursday 9.30am-12.00 noon. We now also open the first and third Wednesday of each month 16.30 - 18.30. The Charlotte Harvey Trust is working in partnership with Watton Town Council (the Trustees), Breckland Council and Nourishing Norfolk (Norfolk Community Foundation) to provide a food hub in Watton Community Centre. We are also sponsored by local business, Belvoir. The aim of a food hub is to provide basic, essential and nutritional food and household items at reduced price in order to bridge the gap between emergency food banks and regular supermarket shopping. We also give out many items free of charge such as sanitary products, some hygiene items such as soap, shower gel, shampoo, face wipes, deodorant etc. All of our fresh fruit and vegetables are free to members and we have a free items box to distribute items that have been donated with the stipulation of being free to members. We also give out emergency food parcels free of charge (tide you over packs) to those who need help in crisis situations with a variety of staple foods to cover a few days. Anyone in the local community can register and there is no need for referrals or for the members to be on benefits. The hope is that the hub gives a reliable and sustainable way of supporting a range of people including those on low incomes, those who are just about managing, families with children and the elderly. The vision is also to provide a safe, warm welcoming space where people in the local community can also find out about other help available such as signposting for debt management, employment advice, tips on saving energy, mental health support etc.

Iceni Partnership is based in Swaffham and runs the Swaffham Community Centre and Swaffham Assembly Rooms. We are both a registered charity and a registered company limited by guarantee. We provide space for events, meetings and social groups, and also have services based here on long-term leases. We also operate Swaffham Community Fridge, giving away surplus food from local businesses to the community - this serves a strong environmental, social and economic purpose. We also run our weekly 'Friday Lunch Club', where the community gathers for a 2 course meal at the community centre.
