Revolution Zero began in Northamptonshire, with an environmental mission to stop good food going to waste – and to campaign about the over-supply in our wider food system. We collect surplus food from supermarkets and share it with the community. As our network of Shop Zero and Cafe Zero projects is closed during Covid-19, we are focused on food aid. From the start of lock down, our ‘Bags of Good’ team has delivered thousands of food parcels and taken fresh produce out to charities and food banks for their work to support vulnerable and isolated people, promoting #zero hunger #zero waste. Supermarkets are often left with unsold, but perfectly edible, food. Thanks to an unmatched team of collectors, we pick up from a wide variety of stores and bring produce to our hubs to be stored in our goods area; or frozen or chilled. Other volunteers work in our network of shops (pop-up and bricks and mortar), event stalls and cafes. The chefs and waiting staff create delicious meals, tailoring menus to match our stock. We offer training and are committed to making sure volunteering adds value for our colleagues. Schools, charities and other charities also share our produce and we support new projects to get going. As a Community Interest Company we invest any profits into developing the enterprise.

We are a church-based charity operating in Northampton, and our project runs entirely from our Registered Address 9 Marvelsike Way, Boughton. Northampton, NN2 8GW and out Worship Address Malcolm Arnold Academy, Trinity Avenue, Northampton. NN2 6JW. The church serves as both a collection and distribution point for food and clothing, making it a central and accessible hub for those we support. This space also allows us to host larger community events throughout the year, helping to create a welcoming environment where people can come together and feel cared for. We support families, individuals, and members of both our church and the wider Northampton community including international students and their families who are struggling while studying at local universities and colleges. Many of these students face financial hardship and social isolation, and our aim is to ensure they are not overlooked. People find us through word of mouth, local community networks, referrals, and our ongoing connections with families in need. Alongside our weekly food parcel and clothing support, we host a monthly event called “Love Feast.” This is a community-wide gathering where we provide hot meals, groceries, and clothing to anyone in need. More than just a food drive, it’s a safe and friendly space where people can connect, feel valued, and experience dignity and compassion. We are seeking support through food surplus and grants. Access to surplus food will help us provide a greater variety of nutritious items for families, while also reducing waste. Grants will enable us to strengthen our operations, cover essential running costs, and sustain larger events like Love Feast allowing us to respond to urgent needs quickly and support more people consistently. We do not charge for any of our services. Everything we offer from weekly food parcels and clothing to hot meals and community events is completely free. We believe that no one should go hungry or go without life’s essentials because of financial difficulty, and we are committed to removing any barriers so that everyone can access support without fear or stigma. Hope has been helping address poverty in Northampton since 1974, with an initial focus on homelessness but now widened to many more people in need. Six days a week we feed and help up to 40 homeless people, supplying a hot meal each day with food parcels to go. We also help people on low incomes through our separate the Hope food club, an innovative social supermarket taking food to pop-up shops on out of town estates. We are now currently helping over 180 families with our food club pop up shop in four locations in Northampton and are looking to expand out of the town to reach more in our county, with the help of the local community and local business we aim to ensure if help is needed we are there.
