Normanton Foodbank
Normanton, UK
Every day, people go hungry in the UK for all kinds of reasons, from changes and delays in the benefits system to redundancy to receiving an unexpectedly large bill for a major repair. A simple box of food makes a big difference, with foodbanks helping prevent crime, housing loss, family breakdown and mental health problems. Normanton Foodbank relies on the support of local people, businesses and communities to help alleviate poverty and hunger in our community.
Food donations
Non-perishable in-date food is donated by the public at places across the local community, such as schools, churches and businesses, as well as supermarket collection points. It is then sorted and packed into boxes by volunteers, ready to be given to people in need.
Food vouchers
Care professionals such as doctors, health visitors, schools and social workers identify people in crisis and issue them with a foodbank voucher. They can exchange this voucher for a foodbank parcel of three days’ nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food.
The help we give…
Our foodbanks offers a lot more than food. Our volunteers offer a listening ear to clients over a warm drink, and signpost people to other charities and agencies who can help resolve the underlying cause of the crisis.
There are many ways to help The Trussell Trust as a volunteer from helping at collection points, to stock-taking and audits, to helping us refurbish our premises. We can continue supporting people in crisis thanks to passionate people giving their time to help their hungry neighbours.

St Catherine's Emergency Food Bank
Wakefield, UK
St Catherine's, Belle Vue, Wakefield, is situated in an area of high deprivation. Our Emergency Food Pantry provides fresh, frozen and store-cupboard food to people who cannot afford to feed themselves and their families.
We ensure a warm welcome is given, and that there is some food to eat while waiting. Any food we cannot give away or use is passed to our colleagues at other local emergency food services.
While people visit, we will talk with them and refer them to services that offer financial, health, wellbeing, housing or employment support. They can also join groups and drop-ins at the centre to receive further support or simply for enjoyment.
In addition, we have our popular meals on wheels service, "Nourishment", that delivers freshly-cooked meals across much of Wakefield; and our day centre for elderly adults.

Leeds South And East Foodbank
Leeds, UK
Operating Trussell trust licensed food bank in the south and east of the city of Leeds, with 11 food bank centre's across this area. At Leeds South and East Food bank the number of food parcels given out by us has increased by 30% over the same period last year, which underlines the need for food bank's across the country. Our food bank's are for people in crisis, some of the reason's people come to us is low income, benefit delay's, or benefit change's although there are many other reasons for needing to use us.
To access our food bank you first need to obtain a voucher from a referral agent such as the council community hub's,school's,doctor's or any other front line service within Leeds. The voucher is then exchanged for food at one of our centre's,there is a limit on food bank use- a food bank can only be used 3 times in any 6 month period.
This is because food bank's are for a crisis situation only and most reasons for food bank use are resolved in a short period of time, anyone who uses a food bank is greeted with a drink and our volunteer's will discuss their requirements/problems in confidence and we will try and refer them onto other agencies who maybe able to help resolve there issues. We work with agencies such as citizens advice, mind,Cap,dial, Andy's Man Club to name a few. Food parcels are designed for 3 meals a day for 3 day's and vary in size dependant on whether the parcel is for a single person or family. The food parcels consist of cereal, beans, vegetables, potatoes, meat, fish, juice, tea, milk. All the food is tinned for storage purposes.
Our food bank's rely entirely on donations from the public, both food and financial wise any donation's can be dropped at our food bank centre's on day of opening or our main warehouse at 18 Millshaw Park Ave, LS11 0LR
All our food bank's are run by volunteer's and we are alway looking for help either at our centre's or at the main warehouse, anybody interested can call 0113 2772229 or e-mail info@leedssouthandeast.foodbank.org.uk
