Mamacita Foundation

Aberdeen, UK

Mamacita Foundation is a Scottish registered charity based in Aberdeen, working to improve lives through the prevention and relief of poverty, the advancement of education and health, and the provision of recreational and wellbeing activities that help people thrive. We also support migrants, refugees, and disadvantaged individuals and families to integrate confidently into their host community. Our work includes practical guidance on employability, housing, and navigating life in the UK, alongside cultural orientation, social connection, family support, and a reliable food bank service for those experiencing hardship. At the heart of what we do is community. With the support and involvement of local people in Aberdeen, we run regular Pop-In Sessions twice a week alongside our food bank, creating safe, welcoming spaces where people from all backgrounds can connect, access support, and build meaningful relationships. These sessions encourage cultural understanding, social cohesion, and mutual support. We believe strong communities are built together, and that nobody should feel alone

Crown Terrace Baptist Church

Aberdeen, UK

We are a multi-ethnic Christian Community in the city centre of Aberdeen. As part of our community engagement, we run a drop-in food service on a Friday evening for the homeless from the front doors of the church. We provide homemade soup, alongside sandwiches donated by Pret in Aberdeen. We also offer tea/coffee and occasionally have food bags which clients can take away with them to help tide them over the weekend.

Shared Planet Society

Aberdeen, UK

Shared Planet Society acts as a platform for cultural exchange and fighting food waste. We normally have a volunteer-run café where we offer cheap, healthy and locally sourced food as well as a VegBag scheme and a conscious Swap Shop located at the University of Aberdeen. We are proud distributors of surplus food to members of the student community and have been rewarded for our work during the COVID-19 pandemic. By distributing food with the help of our committed volunteers, we are battling food waste and benefiting students of all ages and situations living off a limited budget whilst fighting food waste. Please get in touch if you would like to be involved or learn more.
