Lumi Place CIC is a company based in New Ferry Wirral that is dedicated to helping the community. We are actively involved in fighting food, hygiene, and period poverty. We are operating from own shop premises located in New Ferry Precinct, where we providing FREE OF CHARGE all surplus we do have available. With our efforts, we aim to make a positive impact and improve the lives of those in need. Lumi Place CIC is committed to providing support, resources, and assistance to individuals and families facing these challenges. Through our initiatives, we are strive to create a more inclusive and equitable society for everyone in the community. We serve community by providing food surplus (when available) to every member of public, we also delivering any surplus and hygiene products to homeless shelters like Rosebrae and The Bridge in Birkenhead. We also provide help to local Primary School where we redistributing food surplus, children hygiene products and feminine hygiene products. Our little sister department PePo Bank who fight period poverty supplying any feminine hygiene products to local companies and offices to help woman in need or poverty go through their difficult days. We are proud that within our community we have all spectrum of users. Our youngest users are just tern 18 and they struggling with finance wellbeing so we can provide for them food, household items, clothes , hygiene products and much more. The oldest user of ours is 96 years old and she depending on our food donations. Other elderly members are 70 - 90 years old and they using us for getting food surplus, help in little house repairs and also in what is most important company, so their can talk to someone. We also proudly helping to Ukrainian War refugees living in our community. Lumi Place is helping Community of New Ferry to get back to the state like before 2017 when huge gas explosion put this place and its community in depravation state.

We redistribute surplus food from supermarkets to the local community and local charities. This not only saved food from landfill but also helps to build community. - What premises does your project operate from? Currently 38 Linkside Rd, L25 9NX. This is registered with EHO. We have just been offered one day a week in a local shop. We are also working with two local councillors (Mirna Juarez and Sharon Connor) to rent space in a local church hall in an evening too. - How do you identify service users and their needs? They approach us through our facebook page, word of mouth or other people/organisations direct them to ourselves. For example, Alice Bennett, an ex local councillor directed us to a lady with seven children. They also come to our Friday community event in Hunts Cross Gardens. - Are there any other services provided by your organisation other than food support? Our other aim is building community and providing opportunities for volunteering. - Is there a charge for the service(s) provided by your organisation? No - Do you currently collect surplus food from any other retailers? Yes – Tesco and a local Co op. - Has there been local press or similar that demonstrates your organisation's work in the local community? Not yet although the local councillors do share our facebook page. - Would it be possible to provide photographs of work that your organisation does in the local community? There are lots on our facebook page and Instagram page - Is your project a registered charity, registered CIC, social enterprise or non-profit organisation? We have made an application. - Have you partnered with other local good causes or council members who may be able to provide a reference? Hi, it's Sarah & Dawn who for the last 18 months have run The Cupboard Elton. We are now starting under our own umbrella. We aim to help the most vulnerable in our community. We believe it's a basic human right to have access to food. As a community project, we strive to achieve zero waste. So many families are struggling through this cost of living crisis & we endeavor to make life a bit easier for them. We continue to support our local community by working in partnership with other charities, offering free packed lunches to all primary-aged children throughout the school holidays. Throughout the summer holidays, we can provide ice cream to the community. We have also supplied it to the out-of-school club, The Table Ellesmere Port, and the Messy church. Supporting our local Church with the Pensioner's afternoon tea and the soup kitchen. This is run every month but throughout Lent, this becomes a weekly event. We deliver food parcels to the elderly who are less mobile. We hope to be in a position to help more organizations within our village and surrounding areas We can provide information and support about the local food bank and other charities that can also provide support to the most vulnerable. We are operating from the Anchorage at the Elton Church Hall.
