Matty’s Place is registered limited company formed to provide self sufficient accommodation for vulnerable groups with a focus on the homeless. Each placement will be supported with additional care and support for the service user to meet their individual needs. Aimed at vulnerable adults aged 18 and over, Matty’s place will actively support and promote community cohesion and well-being through education and training. Matty’s Place plans to offer dynamic, unique and constantly evolving programs and services that will benefit service users in a productive way to empower independent living and social inclusion. Matty’s Place Limited is projecting to have 30 fully furbished properties accommodated by the end of 2020. At present we have ten properties accommodated through alternative housing schemes. A further five are available to be let immediately and access to at least fifteen more by the end of the year has been agreed subject to terms. Matty’s Place has direct links with letting agents and landlords willing to use investment property towards our social housing mission. With access to a large number of private rented properties, Matty’s Place is in a fine position to deliver a much needed service where the demand is increasingly high. Surplus donations from stores such as Aldi and Lidl can prove to be very valuable to us as we are supporting over 120 service users and they are always in need of supplies due to their unfortunate circumstances.

In Unity We Rise C.I.C. is a community driven organisation dedicated to supporting families, parents, and individuals facing hardship. We provide essential help through our food parcel service, offering nutritious groceries to those experiencing financial struggle, food insecurity, or sudden crisis. Our mission is to bring dignity, relief, and hope to the people we serve. Whether someone needs short-term assistance or ongoing support, we ensure they are met with compassion, respect, and confidentiality. By working closely with local communities, we aim to reduce hunger, ease pressure on vulnerable households, and promote wellbeing for all. Beyond practical support, we are committed to nurturing confidence and resilience within our community. We mentor children, young people, and adults to help them build self-esteem, improve wellbeing, and develop life skills. We also support parents and families through guidance, advocacy, and empowerment, ensuring they are not left to cope alone. At the heart of our work is the belief that no one should face difficult times alone with unity, care, and practical support, we can rise together.

For the last 20 years, HAOS has been enhancing the life chances of our children, young people and families through school enrichment, youth social action and family health and wellbeing projects. As an independent charity, we work to bring together schools and communities in Handsworth, an inner-city area high in deprivation and diversity. Handsworth has a BAME population over 60% with low incomes and high levels of poverty being prevalent. 51% of Birmingham's current asylum claimants are living in this area. Holyhead school in Handsworth reported in 2020 that it had three times the national average number of pupils receiving free school meals, typical of most schools our area with 45% of children are trapped below the poverty line. We offer opportunities to hundreds of children and young people each year to help build their confidence, extend positive social networks, improve wellbeing, reduce anti-social behaviour and develop skills and goals for life. HAOS understands that family life has a huge effect on children's development and attainment, and we work community wide to support wellbeing from running a busy foodbank, delivering mental health programs, and providing holiday and after school schemes for hundreds of children and young people each year and training professionals.
