We redistribute surplus food from supermarkets to the local community and local charities. This not only saved food from landfill but also helps to build community. - What premises does your project operate from? Currently 38 Linkside Rd, L25 9NX. This is registered with EHO. We have just been offered one day a week in a local shop. We are also working with two local councillors (Mirna Juarez and Sharon Connor) to rent space in a local church hall in an evening too. - How do you identify service users and their needs? They approach us through our facebook page, word of mouth or other people/organisations direct them to ourselves. For example, Alice Bennett, an ex local councillor directed us to a lady with seven children. They also come to our Friday community event in Hunts Cross Gardens. - Are there any other services provided by your organisation other than food support? Our other aim is building community and providing opportunities for volunteering. - Is there a charge for the service(s) provided by your organisation? No - Do you currently collect surplus food from any other retailers? Yes – Tesco and a local Co op. - Has there been local press or similar that demonstrates your organisation's work in the local community? Not yet although the local councillors do share our facebook page. - Would it be possible to provide photographs of work that your organisation does in the local community? There are lots on our facebook page and Instagram page - Is your project a registered charity, registered CIC, social enterprise or non-profit organisation? We have made an application. - Have you partnered with other local good causes or council members who may be able to provide a reference? If you would like to provide a reference from a local organisation, if you could ask them to email us at food@neighbourly.com as soon as possible, that would be great. We are a register charity, and we help with the relief of poverty among children and their families. The majority of families we support are struggling financially to make ends meet. We redistributes the surplus food we collects to families / individuals in need on Monday to Friday, but Tuesdays and Fridays are the main designated days for the food bank, whilst other days are for people with health issues. clothing, school uniforms / school supplies, small household goods, and toiletries redistribution days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. We help low income families / individuals in need, refugees, asylum seeker, and homeless people. We occasionally provide home work club for children under 16 years of age, and also support with recreational activities through schools giving local families opportunities to access and be included in activities such as school trips, and visits to cultural sites, etc. We provide information, and signpost families / individuals to other service providers for individuals progression. We provide a range of recreational opportunities for local families, particularly those from low income backgrounds who otherwise would not be able to afford these opportunities.

Hope Community fridge aims to provide affordable food shops to those in our community (a bag of shopping for a £3.50 donation). We have a shop set up in our church building, where people are welcomed to enjoy refreshments in a warm space before/after doing their shop. We would love to build relationships with those in our local area, and have various other projects and courses available at different times, including parenting courses, money management, a toddler group and life groups. The Fridge is accessible to anyone, advertised by flyers, door knocking in the area, through local schools, work of mouth, and connections with other pantries which are oversubscribed nearby. Obviously other activities with in the church are for more specific groups and some for anyone in need, ie, toddler group/parenting courses for families; money management available to any contacts made. Our facebook page shows other connections we have in the community - over spring/summer last year we did regular litter picking, and transformed a waste ground into a community garden. Local councillors have been supportive of these projects. As a team, we only begun this work approximately 20 months ago, so this is just the beginning and we have a vision for more in the future. We aren’t currently linked to any other retailers for donations for our Community Fridge. We have links with Liverpool City Mission charity who provide us with surplus donations where possible, and source all other food ourselves. Donations would provide this project with longevity, and the ability to support more households in our area, particularly through this time where some are choosing whether to eat or heat their homes.
