How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Sainsbury's has donated money, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

The Island York

York, UK

The Island is a registered charity that provides mentoring programmes for York children and young people experiencing difficulties with their mental, emotional and social wellbeing. Our one to one mentoring programme provides a child or young person with one on one support from a trained volunteer mentor. Through recreational activity, our volunteer mentors look to enhance their mentees confidence, self-esteem and resilience levels, so that they can take positive steps forward in their lives. This is done through weekly sessions that take place within the community so that a positive learning relationship can be formed between the mentor and mentee. The Island carefully selects, trains and supervises volunteer mentors who make a commitment to meet regularly over the course of a year. The volunteer mentors give their time freely but are provided with a small weekly budget to cover costs, travel and the different activities. To find out more, visit: www.theislandyork.org
