Community for Food (CFF) is a charity which supports vulnerable families experiencing food poverty, holiday hunger, period poverty and hygiene poverty in the South West of Edinburgh. We provide families with fresh food and larder provisions, toiletries and household products to around 40 families on a weekly basis. Community for Food works in partnership with 6 local schools (Juniper Green Primary, Nether Currie Primary, Currie Primary, Dean Park Primary, Currie High School and Balerno High School) who refer families directly to us. Our service allows families to request goods which fit their dietary, social and cultural needs. We organise tailored weekly parcels and offer a free delivery service for those who need it. Community for Food is run by a group of dedicated volunteers and we are dedicated to reducing food waste - only purchasing products that we can't source free of charge or at reduced cost. We are generously supported by a community of supporters who share our commitment to giving families a hand up, in a way that gives them dignity and choice.

We turn surplus food into healthy meals for those who need them. Since April 2020, we've provided over 1.8 million meals free of charge. In its most simple terms, we turn surplus food into nourishing meals for people that need them, free of charge and without judgement. By making our service available to all, without the need to prove need, we reach some of the most marginalised people across Edinburgh. We believe nourishing food is a basic human right and there should be no barriers to accessing it. Our core service is the delivery of a 'Day Pack', which comprises a day’s worth of nourishing meals. Community volunteers then package these meals ready for delivery across Edinburgh.
