Argos Kelso (Inside Sainsbury's)

Eyemouth Development Trust (EDT) through the Splash Project, supports over 2500 people in Eyemouth and surrounding areas who are struggling with poverty, hardship, health & wellbing, and social isolation. We provide practical help to ease financial strain, improve well-being, and create opportunities for learning and employment. Everything we do is based on the needs of our community and all our projects are supported by a team of dedicated volunteers who give their time and enthusiasm to our projects. Eyemouth Larder/Community Fridge supports over 100 visitors per week by providing free and affordable food to domestic day-to-day costs, while also reducing food waste. Our weekly Brunch Hub offers a warm, welcoming space where 50–85 people can enjoy a hot meal, socialise, and access further support from relevant organisations, e.g. CAB. The Eyemouth Living Magazine is a free monthly publication with articles provided by local people, it also promotes local groups and their activities for free. The Christmas Hamper Project supports disadvantaged families and people living on their own during the festive period; through donations and fundraising, we provided essential food, household supplies, and gifts to 354 people in 2024. Our weekly Women’s Group helps women experiencing a variety of social challenges to build confidence, learn new skills, and access volunteering opportunities. We provide interactive cooking sessions in primary schools, teaching over 500 children about healthy, affordable eating. Our Young Volunteers Group supports young people aged 13–20 in gaining experience through activities such as magazine production, litter picking, and event planning.

Children First is Scotland’s national children’s charity. We stand up for every child because all children should have a safe childhood. We protect children from harm and support them to recover from trauma and abuse through our national support line and in their homes, schools and communities. We help children, their families and the people that care for them by offering emotional, practical, and financial support. We believe all children should have hopes, dreams and opportunities. But, for many they don’t exist. We work with families, funders, supporters, partners and volunteers to put Scotland’s children first. Together we can create a safer, brighter future for all children in Scotland.

Kelso Food Bank has been operating for the last 13 years, providing emergency food parcels for the community. This consist's of approximately 25 items of groceries donated by the wider community, with donation boxes in Sainsburys and the two local CO-OP's plus we purchase Bread milk and Spread. these are then delivered by the volunteers to the beneficiaries who have been referred by social services and other organisations. This service operates with in excess of 20 volunteers who support this worthwhile organisation
