Moray Food Plus provides crisis provision to those in need across Moray; in the financial year 2018 - 19 we fulfilled 1950 referrals for crisis support, assisting 4440 people. This is a 45% increase in the number of referrals and 55% increase in the number of people supported on the previous year. Our mission is for people with direct experience of food insecurity to contribute to help shape services, to develop and run projects that recognise the social value of food, to provide opportunities for people to contribute to projects through volunteering, and where possible, to enable people to choose what they eat in a dignified way. We are committed to moving away from a traditional foodbank model and have actively pushed to develop and deliver more early intervention based work through a variety of projects: • Community larders providing a food store to those most in need • Surplus food recovery and redistribution to support community groups • Cooking sessions to children, families and vulnerable adults • Holiday clubs with food provision • Older people’s lunch club • Community meals • Growing projects • Awareness raising and strategic work

We run a food larder, community fridge and a weekly community table. Everyone in our community is welcome and no questions asked. We don't ask for money donations but they are gratefully received . We don't ask any questions of our recipients of food but we are always available if they want to ask us questions.

The company's objects are to promote any charitable purposes for the public benefit in nairnshire and surrounding districts in the north of scotland ('the area of local benefit') and elsewhere, by: (i) the advancement of education by providing clients with information, clarification and understanding of legislation and their legal rights and responsibilities. (ii) the relief of those in need by assessing clients entitlement to welfare benefits, by providing assistance in claiming benefits and by assisting them to appeal against refusal to benefits and by doing so ensure they do not suffer from poverty. (iii) the advancement of civil and human rights by ensuring that people do not suffer through ignorance of their civil and human rights and by taking such actions as are intended to redress the situation and redress wrongs and restore justice. (iv) advancement of health by providing a comprehensive advice service which deals with all aspects of clients problems and alleviates the injury, stress and anxiety caused by unsolved problems. (v) advancement of community development by recruiting, training and developing local citizens to be volunteers in and for the citizens advice bureau who in turn assist members of the public in their community and in doing so contribute to the development of their community. This includes distributing vouchers to clients in crisis to enable them to buy food.
