Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

Hope4All

Sunderland, UK

Hope4All, is a food, clothes, toy and homeware sustainability project within St Thomas Church Pennywell. We run a foodbank as well as a food cooperative shop. We passionately believe in eradicating food waste as well as promoting money management skills . We currently have 162 members - membership enables each member access to the food cooperative, homeware, toys and clothes sustainability shop. We hope to stop clothing, toys going into landfill and promote recycling through our use-and-donate initiative. People can take clothes they need, and can donate clothing they may not use. We have recently opened our new café, Cafe4All, where we hope to promote eating nutritious food on a budget, as well as eradicating food waste. We currently print out recipe cards for people to cook food we supply at home, and plan on running food workshops in the near future. The café has became a real hub within the community and has helped us eradicate social isolation amongst the local residents. We have managed to create volunteer opportunities, and will be delivering confidence building workshops as well as job and C.V workshops to help people gain the confidence and ability to go into further education or employment. We would be very grateful for any food or food surplus donations in order for us to sustain our foodbank, café and food cooperative - so far we have helped numerous vulnerable people in and around the local community. With the help of food donations we can continue to support the most marginalised area within the Sunderland area.

YMCA Wearside

Sunderland, UK

YMCA Wearside works in some of the most deprived areas in the region and is set up to provide accommodation, support and educational opportunies for the homeless and vulnerable communities of Durham, Sunderland and surrrounding areas. The organisation currently offers support to 200 homeless and socially-excluded people every week. Those that use the service would be living in unsuitable and unsafe areas or would be street homeless if we did not offer them support. We also provide a drop-in service for the street homeless where a hot meal and washing facilities plus access to food parcels are available. In addition, we work with vulnerable families offering food parcels and access to support and a cooked meal.
