Charlton Park Riding For The Disabled Association
London, UK
At Charlton Park RDA, we give free riding lessons to disabled children. On an average week, our three amazing ponies Willow Paddy and Tiny Tim and our amazing volunteers give 40+ disabled children a 30 minute lesson. Many achieve certificates for grade tests as their riding abilities progress Nobody gets paid, so all donations that the group receive go straight into the running costs so that we can offer this free service. Our animals will eat fruit and veg, we do fundraising dinners for volunteers and guests to promote togetherness where we will use in date food.and we have a raffle food basket regularly where all profit goes into the running of the group. Any bakery items are always very welcome by our volunteers to enjoy with a cuppa after the mornings work with the children. None of the people involved at Charlton Park RDA are paid - we do not charge the children for lessons (one of only 5 RDA centres out of 500 in the UK to still be free) so we like to be able to provide refreshments. Any money we can save providing refreshments will be very welcome to help with the other costs of day to day running the school (Vet, insurance, feed, blacksmith etc).
