Argos Harrogate (Inside Sainsbury's)

Resurrected Bites was set up in Jan 2018 to intercept food "waste" and turn it into delicious, nutritious meals that we serve at our cafes in Harrogate & Knaresborough. We offered a friendly welcoming community and everything is served on a pay as you feel basis so that everyone can afford to go out for lunch. From Mar2020- Jul2021, our 3 cafes were closed and we delivered free food & non-food parcels to 15808 people across the district who are struggling to access food. Our cafes are open at St Wilfrid's Church Hall Wednesday 10-1.30, Killinghall Methodist Church Thursday 10-1.30 and Gracious Street Methodist Church Friday 10-1.30. We have launched a community grocery in Harrogate and one in Knaresborough, providing affordable food & non-food items to people on a low income. A 1-2 person family pays £5 for around £ 40 worth of food, a 3-4 person family can pay £10 for double the amount. Some of our customers may struggle to pay the cost of the shopping and so we are launching a Pay It Forward Scheme. If you would like to donate £5 or £10, it will cover the cost of someone's shopping who is having a tough week. Thank you so much for your support.

Our primary goal is to create a welcoming and accessible space that fosters community engagement and empowerment by providing essential resources to families facing economic hardship. The Community Empowerment Hub will offer free school uniforms, children's books for pleasure and food parcels to ensure that children and families have the necessary tools for academic success and that families have access to nutritious meals. Project Description: The Coppice Community Empowerment Hub will be a purpose-built structure, designed similar to a garden office, at the front of the school. This inviting space will serve as a symbol of hope and support for our school community. 1. Free School Uniform: We understand that the cost of school uniforms can be a significant burden for many families. Our 'shop' will stock donated school uniform in various sizes, ensuring that every child can attend school comfortably and confidently. There will be a mirror and rails to replicate the experience of a real uniform shop, for a dignified experience. This aspect of the project also encourages the reduction of landfill, but sourcing uniform in a more sustainable way. 2. Books for Learning: Education is a cornerstone of personal development. Our Hub will have a well-stocked library of storybooks, providing children with the books they need to thrive. 3. Food Parcels: Hunger should never stand in the way of success. We will distribute food parcels with nutritious items to help families facing food insecurity, promoting physical well-being and enhancing learning readiness. Community Benefits: Educational Equity: Our project will reduce educational inequality by ensuring that every child in our community has access to the materials they need for learning. Community Cohesion: The building will serve to provide a sense of community and mutual support among local residents. Food Security: By providing food parcels, we will contribute to reducing hunger and improving overall well-being in our community.
