Gravesham Sanctuary is a registered Charity (No.1181817 in England & Wales), working in partnership with Churches Together in Gravesham, as well as the local authority's Rough Sleeper team and other local services. We provide a day centre 4 mornings a week for people facing homelessness, including rough sleepers, as well as some, now in accommodation, who benefit from ongoing support. We provide - Hot drinks and a snack - Showers - Laundry and some clothing - Help in getting paperwork, ID, GP appointments, benefits, making homeless applications. We signpost to other statutory agencies and local charities who can help with: - Accommodation - Employment - Physical and mental health - Repatriation to their home country - Dependence on alcohol or drugs We also provide short term, supported accommodation for 6 people who have been homeless, supporting them to get their lives back on track and to move into settled accommodation. We are a Christian organisation, motivated by God's love for individuals. We welcome anyone of any race, belief or background. As with any project involving funds raised from the public, the project is run and managed according to a strict code of governance. Gravesham Sanctuary CIO is an independent charity with its own bank account and board of trustees.

Waterside Parents’ Centre is a small charity based in Gravesend. We were established in 1996 to offer a wide range of supportive services to families living in the borough of Gravesham with babies and pre-school children. Our service is referral only and families are referred by Health Visitors, the Perinatal Mental Health team,. midwifery and some nurseries, GPs. Our core support focuses on reducing isolation, providing socialisation for parent and child, developing parenting skills, managing behaviour, raising confidence and self-esteem and supporting better outcomes generally for our most vulnerable families. We offer up to 6 structured family sessions every week, a parent and baby group, a post-natal depression group (unique in the area), as well as 1-2-1 support through counselling and Bach Flower Remedies. We also provide a comprehensive training programme to develop parenting and practical skills. We regularly issue foodbank vouchers to families in need and have also created an on-site pantry and hygiene bank so that we can provide emergency supplies to families when needed All of our services are free. During our 25+ years, we have worked with thousands of families, many of whom have described Waterside as a “life line” and “a life saver”.

Gravesend Methodist Church and Community Centre works within the community with various vulnerable groups including the homeless, and recently housed. We have a day time drop in three mornings a week where guests can meet friends, have a shower leave their laundry and enjoy tea and toast. New clothes are available if needed. Projects for the homeless include a recent drama project and starting soon will be a project where our guestsn will be supported to plan, shop for and cook a meal for each other. During the spring, autumn and winter, the homeless charity Sanctuary provide hot meals and showers in our building. The church works in the community through street pastors to help keep people safe onn the streets. It also has a foodbank to help alleviate poverty amongst the community. Once a week meals are offered through mini-meals and twice a week there is a coffee morning open to everyone.
