Food in Community is one of the first UK community food hubs. Over ten years we’ve become surplus farm produce experts, with surplus from farms and orchards gleaned by our volunteers and distributed to Devon charities and community groups, we run a hardship veg box scheme for households in greatest need in and around Totnes, neighbourhood food groups, pay-what-you-feel community cafes, outside catering for community events, cooking lessons and now field scale veg growing. Our chefs have developed base recipes to incorporate any surplus ingredients into products so delicious, our diners voted us into the finals of a national food award. We also run therapeutic gleaning sessions, where our volunteers harvest surplus fresh food directly from farmers’ fields, market gardens and orchards.
