How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Sainsbury's has donated money, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Armadale Primary School

Bathgate, UK

At Armadale Primary and Nursery we believe that no child should go hungry, therefore, our aim is to provide support and help to our families in the form of a sharing cupboard which parents can access various food at short notice. For families in urgent circumstances a food parcel can be made up to meet the requirements of the individual family. Our family support workers work closely with our families 52 weeks of the year and deliver various clubs/courses offering support in various forms. Our cooking workshops are a firm favourite and are regularly attended by parents. The workshops offer healthier options that are easy and affordable to make. With the help and support from the neighbourly scheme we are able to continue to offer these services to the children and families within our school and nursery.

Empty Kitchens, Full Hearts SCIO

Edinburgh, UK

We turn surplus food into healthy meals for those who need them. Since April 2020, we've provided over 1.8 million meals free of charge. In its most simple terms, we turn surplus food into nourishing meals for people that need them, free of charge and without judgement. By making our service available to all, without the need to prove need, we reach some of the most marginalised people across Edinburgh. We believe nourishing food is a basic human right and there should be no barriers to accessing it. Our core service is the delivery of a 'Day Pack', which comprises a day’s worth of nourishing meals. Community volunteers then package these meals ready for delivery across Edinburgh.

Playworks Armadale - The Dale Pantry

Bathgate, UK

The Dale Hub provides a range of services across the county that support vulnerable children and families. We use a range of play based activities and interventions with individual parents and children, families and groups of parents and/or children. Our mission is to give all of our children the best start in life. Everything we do is about early intervention and prevention. The Dale Hub is based in Bathville Business Centre in Armadale and covers the area of Armadale, Blackridge, Bathgate, Whitburn and Westfield. Armadale has one of the lowest SIMD areas within West Lothian and due to that food poverty is a very real issue. Our Dale Pantry runs on a Thursday afternoon 2.00pm-3.00pm and provides shelf stable items and ingredients in order to help to reduce food poverty within the area.
