People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

Jubilee Storehouse food bank

Aberystwyth, UK

Jubilee Storehouse is the independent food bank for Aberystwyth and North Ceredigion. It is based at St. Anne’s Church in Penparcau and is run by volunteers from the Aberystwyth area. The food bank was established in 2011 to provide food for any individuals, couples or families in the area who are in crisis. There has been a steady increase in the use of the food bank from 136 food packs in 2012 to 2,588 food packs in 2024. We helped 3471 adults, 1927 children and 1587 cats and dogs in 2024. We work with support agencies who assess and refer people for food packs. The packs provide food for up to two weeks while the agency helps to overcome the immediate crisis. We also accept self-referrals from people who are not yet in contact with a support agency. Packs contain tins, jars and packets of good quality long-life food plus fresh bread, milk and margarine. We can also provide toiletries, dog or cat food and nappies, if required. We can also refer people in fuel crisis for a fuel voucher from the Fuel Bank Foundation. We can also refer people on low incomes who need help with veterinary care for their pets to the RSPCA as we are an RSPCA pet food bank. All food packs and referrals for fuel vouchers or RSPCA vet care vouchers are free-of-charge. The team who run Jubilee Storehouse are all volunteers from the local area. Some collect the food from donation points in local supermarkets, while others check it in, date it, rotate stock on the shelves and make up food packs. More volunteers answer the Jubilee Storehouse phoneline (0800 242 5844) from 9am to 1pm on weekdays or issue food packs to make sure that food can be given out from 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday every week (excluding bank holidays). People can also request food packs by using our online form on our website, texting on Facebook Messenger or emailing jubileestorehouse@broaberystwyth.co.uk. Food and money are donated by churches and chapels, various community groups and lots of individuals. We are very grateful to Tesco, Morrisons, Pets at Home, Nisa in Borth and Cletwr in Tre’r-ddôl for providing food collection points in their stores.
