Canaan Trust

Nottingham, UK

The Canaan Trust is an independent Christian Homeless Charity. The Trust has been in existence since 1995 initially primarily provided safe, secure Supported Accommodation for homeless males aged 16 to 70+. Over the past 10 years in response to the every increasing need the Trust has expanded its work out into the Community providing care and support for females, and families, as well as males who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. The Trust, uniquely, operates 24-7 365 days a year as individuals and families do not have their crisis purely 9 to 6 Monday to Friday. The Trust provides 'Person Centred' support for anyone, individual or family, who is homeless, in danger of becoming homeless, is vulnerable, in need of food, or help to address issues in relation to debt. The Trust approaches the needs of the homeless in a holistic manner recognising the often complex nature of the underlying issues which the individual or family invariably are contending with. Operating 24-7, 365 days a year the Trust is often to only accessible source of help and support when a n individual or family are in crisis or need. Regularly, while statutory bodies, working remotely from home-based office, are taking longer to engage and assess need the clients would be left vulnerable if the Trust was not to provide proactive and timely help. The Trust is dependent on charitable donations to enable it to provide the support and care required. The Trust's sole aim is to help each individual, or family, to rebuild their lives, be secure in their accommodation and to achieve independent living in the Community. Anyone in need will find the Trust is there for them - to listen, to care, support, and guide. The Canaan Trust is 'Home' for all who are in need.
