We are looking for donations of surplus food to support this cause and get off to a great start we would love to have this in place before the 6 week holidays begin in July, we will be using the food to cook free family meals and as a collection point to the local community who need support even more now than before. I hold the relevant cooking and hygiene certificate needed and hoping this will help our community I am located in chipping sodbury bristol. We will be starting a community group on Facebook and sharing on local pages to gain awareness we just need to get going and some support to start helping soon children will be off school and provide warm free cooked meals will be fantastic. We will share where we get donations from and also send photos of our produce to advertise. Our clients are referred to the us by front line care professionals, such as doctors, health visitors, social workers, CAB, schools, churches, Jobcentre and SGCouncil. Our Foodbank provides a parcel of food and other essentials to the client that will to feed the family for a minimum of three days. We understand that combating poverty is about more than emergency food. Our friendly volunteers talk to clients and, if appropriate, seek ways to signpost them to other organisations who can help them in the longer term.

Feeding Fromeside Food Hub- An exciting new food project launching in Frampton Cotterell/ Coalpit Heath this November! As the Cost of Living Crisis starts to bite this autumn, locals have set up their own ‘Food Hub’ to help reduce food waste and mitigate food insecurity in Frampton Cotterell, Coalpit Heath, Winterbourne and the wider area. The food hub will open once a week and will offer free food parcels, hot drinks and snacks at a community café. The venture will run on a ‘pay as you wish’ basis. This means that for those on the breadline, food parcels, hot drinks and snacks will be available for pennies or even for free. For those who can afford to pay more or for those who perhaps don’t need assistance but who think the project represents a valuable asset to the community, there will of course be an opportunity to donate much more to help support the project! Anyone is welcome to use the food hub and while the food parcels are designed for those who really need help with groceries, no one will be turned away or asked searching questions about whether they need help or why! The cafe, on the other hand, welcomes everyone, regardless of income and the coordinating team hope that the Food Hub can become a real central point in the village where people can make friends, warm up in the colder months and create a strong sense of community spirit and mutual assistance. The project has been set up with a grant from Community Brightside which operates under the auspices of South Glos Council. The money has been awarded to the Food Hub team to empower them to work towards reducing health inequalities in the local area. The Hub will operate out of Zion United Church, Woodend Road in Frampton Cotterell, who have volunteered the use of their accessible building and kitchen so that the whole community can benefit from this project with minimal overheads. The coordinating team hope to launch in early November and to operate until March of next year as a pilot scheme. Frampton Cotterell, Coalpit Heath, Winterbourne and the wider area may have a reputation as being fairly affluent, but there are actually pockets of great deprivation in the area. The cost of living crisis will represent a considerable threat to the ability of many local families and individuals to make ends meet. Already local community workers are hearing increasing reports of bare kitchen shelves, empty stomachs, mounting debt and fuel poverty. Despite the presence of food insecurity and deprivation in the neighbourhood, most support services (such as food banks) are located several miles away. With local buses cut to the bone this means that many families and individuals struggle to access much needed support. The Feeding Fromeside Food Hub will endeavour to mitigate some of these difficulties while reducing food waste in the local area by distributing surplus from local food businesses.
