How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Sainsbury's has donated surplus food, money and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

St Marks Community Larder

Tunbridge Wells, UK

We run a community larder for the local community, we suggest £3 donation for a large bag of groceries including bread, fruit and veg, meat and toiletries. We open once a week and have been running since the first Covid lockdown. Initially we supported 20-25 local families and are run by volunteers and rely on Fareshare and donations for all our supplies. Since the war in Ulkraine started we now support 50 families, and that number is growing weekly. This combined with on-going cost of living crisis has led to an increase in the demand for our service. As with other community larders and food banks the demand is outstripping supply and unfortunately, we are struggling to provide what is needed and are spending some of our reserves, this is obviously unsustainable.
