How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Sainsbury's has donated surplus food, money and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

YMCA Robin Hood Group - Mansfield and Ashfield

Mansfield, UK

YMCA Robin Hood Group (formally Nottinghamshire YMCA) was established in 1871 to develop the mind, body and spirit of individuals, families and communities. Our passions are youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Our values, based on Christian ethos, responsibility, honesty, respect and caring are the core themes of our programmes. We provide a variety of user-led programmes across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, such as supported accommodation for both homeless adults and children in care, outdoor education, digital media and the arts, supporting some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged community members into volunteering, employment and training. We ensure that everything we offer is fully inclusive and accessible, working specifically in disadvantaged areas. Donations will be used for the following: Supported Accommodation for homeless people including our hostel and Transitional homes in the community; Residential Care Homes for Looked After Children; Children's Services such as Day Camps and Childcare; Youth Services such as Outdoor Education, Creative Arts and Digital Media; Health and Fitness, improving health for All Communities. We YMCA specialise in supporting hard-to-reach, challenging, vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. We are proud to deliver innovative programmes that make a positive difference to people, raising aspirations and supporting some of the most disadvantaged and marginalised people across the county. The disadvantages these communities face, include financial, disability, social, mental, physical, homelessness, among others. We provide direction, guidance and support and are committed to delivering high quality, accessible, life-changing, development opportunities that improve people’s health, education, confidence, transferable life skills, increase positive behaviours, and encourage them into education, employment or training.

BLAST - Building Lives Around Shirebrook Town (CIC)

Mansfield, UK

We are a non-profit Community Investment Company based in Shirebrook, near Mansfield Nottinghamshire. The group is run by 3 directors and a group of local ambassadors. Our aim is to improve the local community and surrounding areas by creating the conditions that allow people to come together to help and support one another. We run a Community Fridge - which is open every week day in our community venue called The Hole in the Wall. We also run a variety of activities and events throughput the year. All profits are invested back into both pre-existing and new initiatives/events. We have further ambitions to deliver on wider, community-based initiatives, that are derived from extensive research and have been co-designed with the local community, service partners and local businesses alike. "Being Kind in Shirebrook" is our pledge that holds us all to account.

Notts FOOD Clubs

Mansfield, UK

We are a Nottinghamshire wide program which currently has 13 clubs and plans to expand, we use surplus food from Fareshare to create food boxes of ambient and chilled foods for our members at a low cost. Our clubs run in health centres, children's centres, schools and community settings in order to be able to reach those who need us on a weekly basis. Our clubs are run by fantastic volunteers who want to help their community thrive. We give our members ideas and tips about the food we provide through recipe access and verbal support and when funding allows, we create recipe bags which include ingredients and instructions to make simple, tasty, family friendly meals. https://www.family-action.org.uk/what-we-do/children-families/food-club/recipe-ideas/ We would use any additional donations to add as extra free items to our boxes acknowledging where they have come from.
