OT Fundraisers CIC started "OT Food Waste Club" June 2022, with 25 members & has now grown with over 450 members. The food club, creates Food parcels for £3.50 which are worth £10 to £15. On average we create 300 food parcels a week, which are collected by the NG15 Hucknall Community from the new OT Thread Shed, Community Hub. We are hoping the project runs for another 2 years, because of the cost of living crisis. There is no sigma against the boxes, basically, its helps the community, try things at a cheaper price, fills fridges & freezers & helps with cost of living. All funds go towards projects in NG15. In school holidays, we make over 1000 packed lunches. We have had over 10 Free Family Fun Days, were kids & adults come & engage. We have DJ, Face painting, crafts & activities. We also hold on a regular basis, Police Surgeries, Futures (Career advice) & New Changes (Womens Charity) to come & offer support to the community.

At Nottingham University Samworth Academy (NUSA), we are committed to supporting our students beyond the classroom. Many of the young people we work with face significant challenges, including poverty, food insecurity, and family hardship. As the Youth Outreach Lead, my role is to engage and support our most vulnerable students—those at risk of disengaging from education due to the daily struggles they face. One of our key initiatives is the Breakfast Club, which provides a free, nutritious meal at the start of the school day. For many students, this is the only reliable meal they receive. A simple breakfast makes a huge difference—it improves attendance, boosts concentration, and helps students feel cared for and ready to learn. We see first-hand how food insecurity impacts a child’s ability to thrive. That’s why our Breakfast Club is more than just a meal—it’s a vital wellbeing support, a chance to connect, and a way to start the day with dignity. To keep this running, we rely on community support. We are currently in need of donations such as cereal, long-life milk, tinned fruit, protein (like tuna or beans), snacks, and toiletries. Financial contributions are also hugely appreciated, helping us to ensure no child goes hungry at school. At Mount Zion 7th Day Church of God we help stop food going to waste and give it to those who are in need, supporting the homeless and vulnerable people. We welcome anyone, families, elderly, single people who are in need to use our food bank,there is no charge. Serving our local community is our passion. Our food bank is open Saturday mornings at our church premises in Bulwell. Opening times: 10.30am - 1pm
