SOCOPA is rooted in the community it serves. Our offices are in St Matthew’s in Leicester and many of our programmes serve the community there as well as attracting people from across the city. SOCOPA exists to meet the needs of Somalis, East Africans, and anyone building a home in Leicester. Our community faces many challenges, such as inequality, poverty, language barriers and isolation. SOCOPA works for the betterment of the community through a range of services including English classes, youth clubs, skills training and culture nights.

At The Centre Project, we recognise that all human beings face hardships from time to time. During these hard times, we may need someone to turn to, or to be around people in a similar situation. That can be in the form of talking to someone, catching up with friends, or sharing a home-cooked meal. The Centre Project offers: - a warm and friendly day centre for social interaction and activities - befriending, emotional support, pastoral care - practical support and signposting - volunteering opportunities - support in accessing universal services, such as benefits advice, housing, etc. - preparation for employment through our CAP Job Club - parish nursing: someone to talk about any health-related concerns and support - counselling: personal counselling and support - affordable home-cooked meals and refreshments We will support you in gaining a sense of belonging, increasing your confidence, meeting new people, finding out information about other services, having fun and enjoying a hearty meal! We believe that everyone needs love, peace, hope, care, laughter and a sense of purpose and belonging. This helps us stay healthy and gives us a sense of wellbeing.
