We are a grassroots organisation addressing poverty and hunger and social inequality in all its guises. Panic buying and Covid 19 has disrupted our provisions dramatically. We have put some contingency plans in place for the elderly how we get out to them, as well as those in need. Food and financial donations have slowed down - donations are crucial. Our strategy for food parcels, collection and deliveries are affected as we can no longer bulk buy when needed due to the nation's concern over the spread of the virus and lockdown of services. Last week ending 18/4 we sent out 150 parcels to individuals and families, spending on average £100 daily Please help us reach the most vulnerable in our area

Sanatan Community Service is a CIC whose aims are to prevent Food Wastage and address Food Poverty. This CIC was founded in 2020 during Covid lockdown period. The original initiative was to provide hot meals for the homeless, elderly and vulnerable people during the lockdown period but fair to say we haven’t looked back! With the rising cost of living and economic conditions, we felt there was a genuine need in the community. We slowly started a few more initiatives. We are fully volunteer-led, non-profit organisation with approximately 20 individuals who are religiously committed to the cause of “Give back to the community” attitude. We work in partnership with Fareshare, Neighbourly and with various local supermarkets directly. Generally, food donated by various organisations is collected, triaged, and made available to the needy on a weekly basis. We also cook hot meals from these saved ingredients. Currently, we are involved in four different projects based on our two objectives: minimizing food wastage and poverty. Feed the Homeless – Every Saturday morning average 150 hot meals mostly, Indian curry and rice are cooked and delivered to the Framework Charity’s homeless people. Food bank - All donations are made available for the food bank. Currently 160 families are registered and average 70 families come to collect the free groceries every Saturday morning between 9 AM and 11 AM. Community Kitchen – All the food bank consumers are served with the takeaway hot meals every Saturday mornings. Free School Meal Children Hot Food – We are also involved with Nottingham Forest Field in cooking and delivering average 400 meals to the children who are eligible for free school meals during the school holidays.

We are part of a volunteer group based at Federation House, Claremont Road, Nottingham, NG5 1BH. We initially came together in February 2022 responding to a Facebook post 'help needed' This was from Roman who owns Trident Security, at this time based at donated premises at Quayside Colwick. City hospital had been collecting donations but didn't have the transport so as the premises in Colwick were no longer available from mid-march we moved over to the Minster building at City Hospital, a local businessman also came on board offering storage at his yard in Alfreton and a place for the lorry to be loaded We have been sending artic lorries full of humanitarian aid, equipment and vehicles since March 22 we're now on lorry 64. We are also helping our Ukrainian guests however we can. Many Ukrainians who have recently settled with host families now volunteer with us to help their own people. This whole war situation is unbelievable, distressing and extremely upsetting but when you meet people first-hand or get a message direct from Ukrainians they are so grateful and overwhelmed by our kindness and generosity...I am humbled to the core and my heart bursts with pain when I hear their stories and what they have had to deal with. The project operates from a disused area in the Nottingham City Hospital at St Francis Way, Nottingham City Hospital, Nottingham, NG5 1PB. We have contacts in Ukraine who let us know what they need, e.g. with winter coming on they have requested warm clothes, boots, socks, underwear, candles etc. There is always a requirement for food for the soldiers in the trenches, mainly dried foods e.g. pasta, pot noodles, tinned foods, things which have a long shelf life, we can’t send fresh food. We provide all kinds of things, ambulances, vans, clothing, bedding, footwear, empty tin cans (these are transformed into candles), Baby items such as prams, pushchairs, disposable nappies, and toys. We also provide any medical equipment and medicines that we can get our hands on, pretty much anything that can be made use of by a population under daily missile attack. Any remaining (fresh/perishable) foods which can not be sent to Ukraine will be redistributed to Arnold Food Bank which is run by The Trussell Trust and are happy to receive any donations of food which is redistributed by them to local people in need within the community. CityHubUkraine doesn't make any charges for anything. We already receive some small donations of food from some of the other volunteers who have arrangements with some supermarkets e.g. Aldi.
