We run activities, groups and projects from our base at The Gap Community Centre. We also manage and deliver Outreach Projects from venues at The Packmores Community Centre in Warwick and in community venues across Warwick with our Youth Team and in partnership with other charities, not-for-profits and community-interest-groups. We hire out our venues so that we can provide a wide range of support and interesting activities. This ranges from supporting families experiencing Holiday Hunger, individuals recovering from mental health traumas, bereavements and addiction, older adults groups to engage with building friendship groups, exercise activities, dementia support and crafting opportunities as well as a space to hire for birthday parties, polling days, or health clinics. Our timetables are varied and changeable, offering something for everyone 0-100yrs. Across the UK, 4.3 million children live in poverty, leaving many families struggling with food insecurity, isolation, and mental health challenges. School holidays are especially tough, with children missing out on meals, friendships, and activities. That’s where TLG Make Lunch comes in. Here at St Paul's Church, Friars Street, Warwick we open our doors one day a week during the school holidays for a hot, healthy meal and activities. Many of our families rely on school meals, we can take some of the stress associated with school holidays off their shoulders. We do not provide just for the children, we are there for the whole family - parents, school aged children, pre-school, whatever the need, whatever the reason, we try to help. Being unable to provide for one's family puts enormous mental pressure on these families, many who are single parents. The reasons for this problem are many and varied, we cannot solve them all but we can try to help a little. In this modern world even loneliness can be an issue, we provide a safe place for families to come, feel welcome and meet others in similar circumstances, maybe make new friendships. Challenges are not confined to school holidays and so we also provide a Food Pantry whereby our families can come and receive some basic essentials to help them. We are totally voluntary, whatever we receive goes to these needy families. All food donations enable us to provide for these families and give some hope to them, show someone cares, show that their community cares, they are not alone, we and others like us are there.
