Staffordshire Women's Aid

Stafford, UK

Staffordshire Women's Aid is an award winning charitable organisation providing a range of specialist services to those living with, fleeing or recovering from the impact of domestic and sexual violence since 1976. Over time we have grown and developed to meet the needs of those we support, however, 45 years on we remain a grass roots, user-led organisation, placing the needs and views of those we support at the heart of our work. We aim to empower people to build the skills they need to move towards safer, more independent lives, free from violence and abuse. Our holistic approach enables us to reach out and respond to some of the most vulnerable and isolated women and children in our communities, including those with the most complex and diverse needs such as language difficulties, mental ill-health, drug/alcohol issues, those living in poverty, social and rural isolation, older women and those with disabilities. To achieve our social objectives, we provide innovative, responsive services, delivered by a dedicated and skilled team of staff and volunteers: • 24-hour Helpline – available every hour of the day, every day of the year. • Refuge accommodation, housing support and resettlement. • Wellbeing services, including Counselling and mental health support. • Women’s Community Services, including Legal Advice Clinics, Food and Clothes Bank, Support for women to access training and employment. • A range of group work programmes to aid recovery and build self-esteem and skills. Alongside the provision of front-line services, we work to create positive change in our communities through accredited training, awareness raising, and delivering preventative programmes for young people. We are proud to have achieved the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services in 2018 and Women’s Aid Federation National Quality Standards.
