How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Sainsbury's has donated surplus food, money and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

Food with Love Community Pantry

Isleworth, UK

The Food with Love Community Pantry is a community food club, run by and for its members offering good quality, healthy and nutritious food through low cost membership. In June this year (2022) Food with Love (FwL) launched a new and innovative service aimed to empower the residents of the London Borough of Hounslow. The FwL Community Pantry helps families living on the threshold to sustain their livelihoods whilst maintaining their self worth and dignity. We are a community resource; here for those who need us. Our main aim is to; - Support and strengthen the self-esteem of members - Increase self-reliance and resilience - Reduce reliance on food banks. Each member makes a small contribution towards the cost of the food they choose during their weekly visit to the Pantry. To ensure that essential staples are always available the Pantry reinvests all of its member’s fees to buying stock. One of the ethos of FwL is to help decrease the amount of food that is needlessly sent to landfill each year. FwL collects and redistributes surplus stock from supermarkets and food manufacturers within the London Borough of Hounslow. The nature of suppliers means that the supplies are varied every week.

Anstee Bridge

Kingston upon Thames, UK

Anstee Bridge creatively supports young people aged 11-16 who have social, emotional and mental health issues. We run a bespoke Programme which young people are referred in in the heart of Kingston. Anstee Bridge was set up in 2008 and offers in house support and an outreach programme in local schools. Since Feb 2024 we are also running an additional Anstee in Richmond Borough supporting young people referred from Richmond schools. All our young people are referred from local schools. Being part of Neighbourly is essential to our work as we need volunteers, support with food donations, to feel connected and part of the community. We offer creative workshops to build confidence and resilience and to decrease loneliness and isolation with young people aged 11-16. We want them to have a sense of belonging in their community and to reduce the risk if self harm and suicidal attempts. We give the food to them as breakfast, lunch and to bake with it with them. We do not charge for food donations as we are under AFC/Local authority

Food for Thought Heathfield CIC

Twickenham, UK

Food for Thought Heathfield distributes food to our community that would otherwise have been discarded from local supermarkets, restaurants and independent food outlets . We offer a pop up stall on Heathfield Recreation Ground on a Thursday and Saturday. Our offering is for everybody! We want those who need food to have it. Our visitors also choose surplus for environmental reasons, saving from landfill and reducing carbon footprint. We encourage everybody to use surplus food to help themselves and others, gifting and cooking for their families and the rest of the community. We do not charge for food - ultimately what we offer would have gone in a bin! Those who wish to donate help us to continue feeding as well as supporting redevelopment and the community around us.
