Ace of Clubs is a family-like community providing transformative support for homeless, vulnerable and otherwise marginalised people in our area. At our centre on St Alphonsus Road, we provide for the immediate needs of those in desperate circumstances with safety, food, warmth, clothing, laundry and showers. From this welcoming start, and through friendly and genuine care, we seek to build relationships with people. The team at Ace of Clubs is skilled and focused on linking people with a wide range of services, including accommodation, welfare, rehab, training, healthcare and many others.

We are a hostel for men with complex needs and experience of homelessness. When men are referred into our service, they are often not having their basic needs met. Our team support them to build the skills to live independently. This involves supporting residents to: -receive and maintain their benefits entitlements -register with health services (including mental health and drug and alcohol services) and receive treatment -build community through recreational activities, education and training, volunteering and work -develop strategies to manage finances, emotions and relationships As many of our residents find it difficult to remember to eat regular meals and/or prioritise spending for food we need support to meet these needs. We have also found cooking as a household every week as a fun way to bring everyone together and share skills and experiences. Brixton Soup Kitchen is a community space for homeless people or people in desperate need. The Soup Kitchen provides food, drink and companionship in a warm and friendly environment on a weekly basis. About Us... We have served over 345,000 meals either eaten on site or distributed during food drop offs and outreach sessions. This could not have been possible without the donations and support from local community members as well as local businesses. We organise for trained professionals to deliver one to one consultation sessions with our clients, helping to re-house people, assisting people to claim benefits they rightfully deserve as well as back to work training. Brixton Soup Kitchen is for the homeless and other members of the community who fall below the poverty line. Since starting the Brixton Soup Kitchen, we have received food donations from Pret A Manager, Greggs, Nandos, Satay Brixton, Marks and Spencer. We now work with Iceland, Waitrose, Sainsburys depots. We have had media support from The Voice Newspaper, Channel 4 and The South London Press who awarded us with the 'Our Hero's Award' in April 2013. The word about the good work at Brixton Soup Kitchen has been spreading and we welcome approximately 45 visitors per day, 5 days a week. We engage with over 30 homeless people every day from in and around London. Moving Forward... Our soup kitchen is now is working towards becoming a recognised support centre for the community as a whole. We hope to add more facilities to the already popular centre including job searching support, advice on housing and benefits and a night shelter for those in dire need. However in order to achieve this, a lot of support will be needed. We still need to do more, and your support will help us reach out to more homeless people with information and food packs that will provide a week's worth of food at a time. In particular, we need help funding a van so that we can pick up more food.
