How it works

Here's how businesses create local impact through Neighbourly.

Through Neighbourly, Sainsbury's has donated surplus food and products, turning business resources into meaningful community impact.

  1. 1

    A business gives

Through Neighbourly, businesses donate resources to local good causes.

  2. 2

A local good cause puts it to use

Support goes directly to charities and community organisations, helping them free up time and resources to focus on what matters most.

  3. 3

People get the support they need

Whether it's a hot meal, essential products, a safe place to meet or someone to talk to, support reaches people in ways that make a real difference.

  4. 4

    Every contribution counts

Together, these contributions create real, measurable impact in local communities. That's social value in action.

The Connection - St Martin's House

London, UK

St Martin's House is a female only accommodation project run by The Connection. Our research on women's homelessness found that there are many barriers that stop women reaching out for support and, due to this, they are hugely under represented in homelessness services. Women’s rough sleeping is often transient, intermittent and hidden – which means that women are often not represented in official statistics and, crucially, are often precluded from accessing support and housing. One of the biggest barriers to support is a lack of female-only spaces where women can feel safe. For women fleeing domestic and sexual abuse, a roof could be a reminder of impending violence - especially if men are present. St Martin's House offers a safe and stable space for women who are experiencing homelessness, giving them a place to recover, not just from life on the streets, but the psychological impact of what brought them there. We use a trauma-informed approach to engage residents, building relationships and trust with no time constraints.

Miije Ltd

Croydon, UK

Miije Ltd is a non-profit, interactive and user-led service for young mums and mums-to-be aged 16-30. All the services we offer are centred around becoming independent, confident and responsible individuals and parents. Providing a nurturing, uplifting and supportive environment will enable the young mums to be empowered within themselves and stand strong when navigating the ebb and flow of life. Being inclusive is very important to us, so we host workshops and events outside our facilities for both young mums and dads to have access to support and advice. We are fast approaching the start date for our new cooking workshop, which is going to put Master Chef on alert LOL. Seriously though, the cooking workshop teaches young parents to confidently cook on a budget, experiment with different foods, connect with others and get food support. Alongside the cooking workshop, we are hosting a food bank for young parents within our borough. This is very much needed, as the price of living is increasing dramatically. Young parents are able to come and collect food for themselves and their families when it is needed the most cost and hassle free. Miije is a huge advocate for young mums, and part takes in different partnerships to ensure we are supporting them in the best ways we can. An example of this work is becoming a parent ambassador for our borough of Croydon. We are super excited for what the future holds as new partnerships are forming, bringing about new levels of support for the young parents that are in need.
