The Dwaynamics Community Centre’s Nourishment Hub is more than a food project it is a lifeline, a warm table, and a doorway to dignity for families and individuals navigating hardship in Lambeth and the surrounding areas. Rooted in the legacy of Dwayne Simpson and guided by the leadership of Pastor Lorraine Jones Burrell MBE, the Hub embodies a simple but radical idea: when people are loved, welcomed, and well-fed, they can start to heal, stabilise, and thrive. From its earliest days, the Nourishment Hub has been a place where nourishment is holistic—body, mind, and spirit served with compassion, consistency, and community pride. The Hub was born from lived experience. After the tragic loss of her son Dwayne to knife crime, Pastor Lorraine channelled her grief into purpose, founding the Dwayne Simpson Foundation and building Dwaynamics into a beacon for youth development, family support, and community resilience. Food quickly emerged as a unifying language a way to meet urgent needs while building trust. In a borough shaped by both rich cultural heritage and deep inequalities, the costs of housing, health challenges, and the realities of poverty often collide. The Nourishment Hub responds by offering hot, nutritious meals, culturally familiar ingredients, and ready-to-heat dishes that respect the diverse communities it serves. But it also offers what many services do not: time to listen, space to be seen, and practical pathways forward. A typical session at the Nourishment Hub is alive with conversation and care. Volunteers greet guests by name. Children tuck into balanced meals while older residents are offered tea, a seat, and company. People can take away groceries that reflect choice and dignity not leftovers, but quality foods selected with families in mind. For those who are street homeless, sofa-surfing, or in temporary accommodation, the Hub provides ready-cooked meals and light-touch support that acknowledges complex realities like addiction, trauma, and poor health. The approach is trauma-informed, non-judgmental, and intentionally warm. As one guest put it, “Dwaynamics makes me feel happier and hopeful” a testament to the healing power of hospitality and consistency. Beyond the plate, the Hub functions as a bridge to wider help. Staff and trained volunteers offer gentle signposting and introductions to local services: GP registrations, diabetes and nutritional advice, welfare rights and housing guidance, safeguarding support for families, and connections to training and employment opportunities. Partner drop-ins from health teams, schools, and community policing are invited to meet residents on their terms, in a familiar, non-intimidating space. This fabric of collaboration reflects Dwaynamics’ broader mission: to reduce harm, build trust, and strengthen neighbourhood safety through everyday relationship-building. Brixton Soup Kitchen is a community space for homeless people or people in desperate need. The Soup Kitchen provides food, drink and companionship in a warm and friendly environment on a weekly basis. About Us... We have served over 345,000 meals either eaten on site or distributed during food drop offs and outreach sessions. This could not have been possible without the donations and support from local community members as well as local businesses. We organise for trained professionals to deliver one to one consultation sessions with our clients, helping to re-house people, assisting people to claim benefits they rightfully deserve as well as back to work training. Brixton Soup Kitchen is for the homeless and other members of the community who fall below the poverty line. Since starting the Brixton Soup Kitchen, we have received food donations from Pret A Manager, Greggs, Nandos, Satay Brixton, Marks and Spencer. We now work with Iceland, Waitrose, Sainsburys depots. We have had media support from The Voice Newspaper, Channel 4 and The South London Press who awarded us with the 'Our Hero's Award' in April 2013. The word about the good work at Brixton Soup Kitchen has been spreading and we welcome approximately 45 visitors per day, 5 days a week. We engage with over 30 homeless people every day from in and around London. Moving Forward... Our soup kitchen is now is working towards becoming a recognised support centre for the community as a whole. We hope to add more facilities to the already popular centre including job searching support, advice on housing and benefits and a night shelter for those in dire need. However in order to achieve this, a lot of support will be needed. We still need to do more, and your support will help us reach out to more homeless people with information and food packs that will provide a week's worth of food at a time. In particular, we need help funding a van so that we can pick up more food.

We are a registered charitable organisation operating a Foodbank service from our church building, we rescue surplus food in partnership with Neighbourly and Fareshare - food that would otherwise go to Landfill. We transport this back to our base where we sort the food into parcels, then redistributes it to families and individuals who are struggling to put food on their table. We serve over 300 people on a weekly basis. This includes a delivery service for elderly and disabled people who are most vulnerable in the community. In 2022 after lockdown we started operating a warm space service, one day per week providing three meals and social activities which is good interaction with the community also. We have seen this as a vital service to the community but the demandis rising due to the economic crisis. We are extremely pleased with the success and now humbly ask for your support in fund donations to help us with the continuation for this service. We are on a mission to make a difference in the lives of those in need within our community.
