Beacon House - Evolve Housing and Support

London, UK

Beacon House consists of self-contained flats. Young people staying with us have access to staff 24 hours a day and there is a communal lounge, garden, and skills room. Customers are referred by the Borough’s Social Inclusion, Independent Support and Children and Families teams; they normally have medium-to-high support needs. When customers move in, we empower them to make decisions about their support from the very start, such as choosing their support worker and the times of 1:1 sessions. Our approach focuses on encouraging them to identify their strengths and goals. From there they can choose how they want to progress, and take ownership of their journey into independence. Each customer receives a starter pack to help them settle in, and while at the service they can develop independent living skills like cooking, budgeting, fostering positive relationships and building their self-esteem. Our Health and Wellbeing team deliver mental health support, in partnership with external organisations like Insight. Support into education, training or employment is tailored to individual circumstances. We offer advice, and we connect customers to education opportunities and volunteering roles. Alongside this, we explore underlying barriers that they may face to accessing these things, like physical or mental health needs. This work is often done in partnership with partners like Spear. When customers are ready to move on, we help them to do so. That might mean that they return to their family home, or look for less supported or fully independent accommodation. Fully independent options are usually shared housing in the private rented sector.

Henrietta Media CIC – Creative & Community Support

London, UK

Henrietta Media CIC is a grassroots, user-led community organisation based in West London. We operate from Fulham United Reformed Church (FURC) in Fulham, where we run Henrietta's Kitchen, our community food hub, alongside creative and wellbeing activities for local residents. We are volunteer-led and shaped by disabled members, people with lived experience and the local community. We work closely with residents, community organisations and partner services to identify local needs and develop activities that promote inclusion, confidence, wellbeing and community participation. Our services currently include: Community food support through surplus food redistribution. Henrietta's Kitchen community food hub. Creative workshops including music, drama, film and creative writing. Volunteering opportunities. Community wellbeing and peer support activities. Monthly Bring & Share community meals. Community events that encourage social connection and reduce isolation. Fresh and ambient surplus food is collected and redistributed to local residents, helping reduce food waste while improving food security. Light refreshments are provided after group activities, and our monthly Bring & Share meal brings residents, volunteers and partners together to share food, conversation and build stronger community connections. Our activities are currently provided free of charge, ensuring that local people can participate regardless of their financial circumstances. As Henrietta Media grows, we continue to develop new creative, educational and wellbeing opportunities in partnership with local organisations, supported housing providers and community services, helping people develop skills, confidence and lasting social connections. Who We Support People with physical, sensory or learning disabilities. People experiencing mental health challenges. Older adults and carers. Single parents and families. People experiencing isolation or loneliness. Long-term unemployed residents. LGBTQ+ individuals. Black, Asian and ethnically diverse communities. Local volunteers, artists and creatives. We believe everyone has something valuable to contribute. By working together with our volunteers, partners and local residents, we are building an inclusive, creative and sustainable community where people can connect, contribute and thrive.
