Downham Aid is a community Volunteering organisations formed by residents to help those most vulnerable members of Bromley and Lewisham Communities to access support and services. Having now supported over 3500 individuals with Emergency Food Boxes during the coronavirus outbreak while also providing a range of support services to combat loneliness and other mental health issues through creating be-friending networks on social media. Downham Aid are committed to continuing to support their residents throughout the community by designing a Social Supermarket to help reduce poverty and offer many other services. There is no charge for the food that we provide.

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. Throughout the Covid crisis we have seen a doubling in demand for food parcels partly due to the collapse in the hospitality sector and the high level of redundancies. We are seeing more families. We are part of a coordinated effort by Southwark Council that has developed over this year in response to this crisis. Your support is needed more than ever and we are very grateful for the public's generosity. We are hosted by Pecan, a charity based in Peckham, that brings hope through helping people find work and overcome barriers to employment.

We are a Christian organization with various Food outlets and still counting. We are a NGO and all our services are free. We were invited to start in Halifax, and we began with a food initiative, "Never Alone" where we gave supplies to about 50 plus families. MORE INFORMATION We are also based in Halifax, UK, HX1. We operate from Orange box, very close to the Peace hall. We have had a few local press coverages, such as Loveworld Christian TV, Healing To The Nations Magazines and we hope to get more press coverages as we did with the TV series, DIY SOS: The Big Build is a British DIY television series made for the BBC. We have volunteer drivers who help to convey food and essential items about. At the moment, members of the group and the church put resources together to provide for the community and those who we support.
