FoodCycle is a national charity that builds communities through the power of good food. FoodCycle is based upon the simple idea that waste and poverty should not co-exist and that something powerful can be achieved by cooking and eating together. Every week, volunteers across the country reclaim surplus food destined for the bin. This food is instead cooked into healthy, tasty three-course community meals for vulnerable people. FoodCycle John Archer is our pilot scheme that will serve free meals after school to children and families.

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. Throughout the Covid crisis we have seen a doubling in demand for food parcels partly due to the collapse in the hospitality sector and the high level of redundancies. We are seeing more families. We are part of a coordinated effort by Southwark Council that has developed over this year in response to this crisis. Your support is needed more than ever and we are very grateful for the public's generosity. We are hosted by Pecan, a charity based in Peckham, that brings hope through helping people find work and overcome barriers to employment.

- Accommodation/housing - Provides advocacy/advice/information We work with people who have been rough sleeping by providing them accommodation, assessing their needs and supporting them to move onto a service that best suits their needs. While at LAC we offer Full Health Checks by onsite nurses and support them to register to a local GP. We also signpost or refer clients to external services to support them with other areas such as their Mental Health, Learning Languages and Substance misuse. The donations given to us will be given out to the people during their stay at Lambeth Assessment Center.
