The Peel Institute
London, UK
We are an active community centre who have been based in the heart of Clerkenwell, London, since 1898.
We run a very active social club for adults, a youth club, family activities and a community-based mental health awareness project, Minds Matter Islington. We support local people to put on events, classes and other initiatives, such as the EC1 Echo, Clerkenwell's excellent community newspaper and we develop targeted events and activities in the community.
We work closely with Islington Council, other community centres, voluntary organisations and local businesses to deliver a wide range of high quality services. We inform and in-put into local policy, where relevant and appropriate.
Our work is guided by the belief that a connected community in Clerkenwell is of the utmost importance. We are really proud to be building a more connected Clerkenwell, one where everyone benefits from living here.
We are seeking donations of non-perishable food items, baked goods, fruit & vegetables, ready meals, drinks and snacks.

We equip vulnerable young girls with tools and life skills such as negotiation, communication, assertiveness and leadership by working in partnership with youth centres encouraging them to become agents for their own change. In Westminster we work with the Avenues Youth Centre.
WAND’s vision is a World at peace, free from discrimination and oppression where every person enjoys all the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. A world where and where individual dignity is respected, and all human suffering and hardship is acknowledged with humility and compassion. The focus of our work is on helping disadvantaged young people, aged 16-35, who are homeless or in housing need, to achieve the transition from dependence to independence. The approach to the young person’s needs is holistic. The YMCA North London offers integrated access to affordable accommodation, training, personal development, guidance and job searching facilities. The relationship with the young person is based on a formal agreement as to how the facilities and local community resources will be used in making the transition to independence, commitment to which is a condition of continued residence.
The YMCA North London runs cookery classes in hostel which gives our residents the opportunity to learn to cook and eat healthily to better equip them for independent living.
