The Cargill Burrelton Parish Church Community Hub aim to: Support our parish residents (and beyond) with a safe, happy and welcoming environment for all ages regardless of, race, colour, creed or orientation. Encourage social integration reducing loneliness and isolation across the generations. Promote community regeneration. Provide the opportunity for individuals within the community to volunteer and work together in an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere and develop their skills and confidence. We provide opportunities to forge friendships, and socialise without incurring travel costs. Share what we grow and produce at home, reduce food waste and connect all generations in the local area Based at the halls at Cargill Burrelton Church in Woodside, Burrelton, Perthshire, Every Tuesday and Friday we have our food waste reduction project 'The Shepheard’s Hut' open for local residents. Here we offer free food collected from Lidl (Blairgowrie) and Marks and Spencer’s (Perth) along with local growers when donations are available. We also offer food bought through Fareshare at prices vastly lower than supermarkets. These items are both fresh and store cupboard favourites, making it possible for households to reduce their weekly food bills whilst also helping to reduce food waste! We are a not “for profit”project, meaning all money taken is put back into ordering future products and running the project. This food is also used to make the soup and cakes served in our Community Cafe. Our Community Cafe meets on Tuesdays from 12noon - 1:30pm offering freshly homemade soup, bread rolls and baking. This service is free of charge, though donations are always welcomed. Together Time, held on a Friday afternoon, provides the opportunity for members of the community to meet up for a chat over a cup of tea or coffee served with biscuits or baking. We run our free Busy Bees playgroup sessions on a Monday and Thursday from 9:30-12noon, where children aged five and under can come along with their parent/guardian/carer and play together, developing social skills and explore through learning/play activities in a fun and safe environment. There are several social events held throughout the year, including Haggis Lunch and Christmas Lunch provided at the Community Cafe. The Church Guild also provide a Harvest Supper which is also well supported by members of the community.We are always looking for opportunities to bring the community together in positive ways and encourage social inclusion by helping each other.

The company has been formed to benefit the community of blairgowrie and rattray (defined as the towns of blairgowrie and rattray and the area within a six mile radius of the bridge over the river ericht between blairgowrie and rattray) ('the community') with the following objects to be exercised following the principles of sustainable development (where sustainable development means development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs) namely: (a) to manage community land and associated assets for the benefit of the community and the public in general provide recreational-facilities, or-organise recreational activities-which will be available to members of the community and public at large with the object of improving the conditions of life of the community (c) to advance community development including urban or rural regeneration within the community (d) to advance the education of the community about is environment, culture, heritage and/or history (e) to advance environmental protection or improvement including preservation, sustainable development and conservation of the natural environment, the maintenance, improvement or provision of environmental amenities for the community and/or the preservation of buildings or sites of architectural, historic or other importance to the community

The charitable purpose of the scio ('the charitable purpose') is to advance community development by providing a highly-localised system of democratic community planning, through which to grow a community of communities in scotland and elsewhere, underpinned by the principles of community empowerment, self-knowledge, measurability of outcomes, neutrality and mutuality of support. In order to build friendship and trust with the community, we open from Monday to Friday, 11am - 2pm, as a community drop-in. We provide a kettle, mugs and somewhere comfortable to sit with friends, or meet new friends. What premises does our project operate from? We operate from premises at 2 George Street, Coupar Angus, PH13 9DH (formerly C&W West Electrical Goods/Repairs). Also, we are applying for an asset transfer of a shop unit in the town centre, after the decision to close another a local charity. How do we identify service users and their needs? The project itself is the response to a need identified some years ago for a ‘Wee Lounge’, somewhere local people could meet in a relaxed and informal way. In short, the people who visit are the people who need us. Other services provided by our organisation The main service we provide is a community drop-in, described above. However, we are happy to assist with other needs expressed by the community. For example, starting at the end of August we will host the New Age Kurlers group. The group, which has been running since 2010, organises weekly afternoons of games and entertainment. In the past these have been aimed mainly at older residents, but are now open to anyone. Charges for services There is no charge for individuals who use our premises, although we accept donations (there is a donations tin in the kitchen). Charges for other groups will vary, depending on the level of community benefit. For example for the New Age Kurlers we will keep the price low (£5 per hour). Other surplus food providers Currently we do not distribute surplus food from any other provider, but we are making inquiries with Neighbourly.com. Local press etc. about our organisation's work in the local community The local community magazine, CANdo, published an article about us in their Summer 2022 issue. Also, recently we featured in the Blairgowrie Advertiser for hosting a Town Yard Sale, in which local people were invited to set up stalls at their homes to sell unwanted items. Cascade sold maps to visitors for £3. This included home baking and refreshments from our premises.
