We are a local community group with the primary aim of reaching out to help people who are most in need. We receive food surplus from supermarkets within the area and provide for people and families who are going through financial difficulties and struggles within our community. Our work is making a real impact in people's lives and offers valuable support where it is needed most by ensuring people have food at their table. I believe that through the simple act of giving we can overcome many problems we can face in life whilst helping others in our neighbourhood through difficult times. Charity is held to be the ultimate perfection of the human spirit, because it is said to both glorify and reflect the nature of God. ... Charity has two parts: love of God and love of man, which includes both love of one's neighbour and one's self. In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul places the greater emphasis on charity (Love).As a community group this is what we endeavour to achieve. Objectives The object of Springwater community group is to carry on activities which benefit the community in particular - Provide Essential Food Supplies: Ensure that struggling families in derby ,burton ,Leicester,Nottingham and surrounding areas receive necessary food supplies, so no one goes hungry due to financial difficulties. - - Reduce Food Waste: Partner with local supermarkets ,Farash and food businesses to collect and distribute food items that are close to their sell-by date but are still safe for consumption, thereby reducing food waste and promoting sustainability. - Foster Community Support: Create a network of volunteers and community members to assist in the collection, sorting, and distribution of food, fostering a spirit of community support and cooperation. - Educate on Food Security: Educate the community on issues related to food security, nutrition, and sustainable practices to empower individuals and families to make informed decisions about their food consumption. - Collaborate for Advocacy: Work collaboratively with local authorities, charitable organisations, and other stakeholders to address the root causes of food insecurity and advocate for policies that support vulnerable populations.

Betel UK is a family of charitable Christian recovery communities who restore homeless and substance-dependent people to productive, independent lifestyles. Our purpose is to rescue those on the slippery slope of homelessness and addiction who want to rebuild their lives but can’t get into overburdened, under-funded rehabs. Betel offers entrance to new residents quickly, often within 24 hours of contacting us. One focus of our mission is to bring abstinence into the mainstream again, to declare and demonstrate that drug-free lifestyles are achievable and sustainable. We believe that people deserve the dignity to live free of life-controlling substances, rather than be led by policy and practice to expect life-long dependencies on prescribed opiates or alcohol. If addiction is a disease, our conviction is that it is an alterable disease of the will, self-induced, no matter how a person’s environment or genetics may predispose them. Hard-working Betel residents grow to understand the importance self-responsibility plays in their own long-term recovery. Our support services are free of charge making us be accessible to everyone regardless of financial means. Most of our funding for daily operations (over 85%) is generated through our charitable businesses and workshops, which train our residents to build employable skills. Betel residents agree to sign off primary benefits (Income support/Job Seekers Allowance) to further encourage their break with dependency in pursuit of building a strong and meaningful work ethic. Residents help to fund their own recovery by being involved in our charitable businesses. This significantly reduces the financial burden on their families and government, while restoring dignity and a sense of purpose. This meaningful work takes many forms, from the introduction to the necessity of daily chores in our residences, to working with our charity businesses. These are Furniture Restoration; House Removals/Clearances/Deliveries; Garden Maintenance and Landscaping; Tree Surgery; Charity Shop Retail Sales. We contract jobs with the local public, the government, businesses, churches and charities as our main means of funding Betel’s charitable activities. Betel is committed to expanding into all major cities in the UK and Ireland as properties/funding become available. We now have the climate in the UK to help provide a real alternative option to reduce crime and improve social cohesion. We're doing this by building relationships within the Criminal Justice Sector and local community organisations. Our men and women are willing to help fund their own recovery to a large degree and be an example to others needing help. About us We are a group of local people, committed to reaching out to the Derby inner city community. Our volunteers come from nursing, mental health, health visiting, teaching, administration and care backgrounds. This free service is based at the Church of God 7th Day, Moore Street .Derby DE23 6SN, which is a registered charity. We are a community church, working with likeminded people, in the local area, to provide donated food in the form of soup, filled cobs, sandwiches and bread. We work in partnership with local hostels and service users attend by self referral, through word of mouth or by service staff. In addition, we try to support people, mainly though giving, offering a listening ear, acts of kindness and invitation to social events. Opening Times Mondays 2.00 - 3.00 filled cobs/sandwiches – and hot drink Fellowship and lunch - Saturdays 2-3pm The public access our services according to their perceived need We provide a small foodbank using donations supplied. Kings Kitchen is in a severely deprive area of Derby. Information about the services offered are cascaded via weekly announcements, via hostels, Derby City Council, local new letters and flyers. Individuals and groups are invited to activities and receive food donation based on need. Low-income families receive food donation – they walk in off the street Local schools are aware of what is available. Donations are received from individuals from the wider community. News is spread by word of mouth and people turn up uninvited and receive help. Emergency housing and hostels are provided with food and filled cobs. Local services forward needy individuals Attendees are redirected for e.g. housing advise and health concerns Some of our volunteers work with people in Addiction and Homeless and can easily cascade information to those in need We give out donations freely to needy people in the community King’s Kitchen is evaluated quarterly by the wider organisation On Mondays we provide filled cobs and sandwiches to needy individuals- usually around 100 units On Saturdays we provide fellowship lunch – offering a hot meal to around 70 individuals. This is served by donations received from neighbourly and funds from the local church The wider church offers a men’s group that Kings Kitchen users can access Individual drop in for light refreshment if the premises are open outside the usual opening times We follow the guidance of Derby City Council’s Environmental Department We work with a number of trained volunteers with a wide skill sets Volunteers are available to listen and empathise with visitors. We refer to other organisation eg for housing and wider health support. There are opportunities for individuals to receive spiritual support if required.
