Mercy in Action in the UK works alongside young homeless women and their babies by providing accommodation and ongoing support through a network of Petra Houses. In B&NES we have also run Action Pantry, a food club for families struggling with food poverty. All families are referred by professionals and attend weekly to collect their food, choose free clothing for their children and chat with support workers who can help with signposting to other organisations.

Trowbridge Future is a community group who works with all areas and aspects of the community, helping to make a difference to the people that live within the local areas of Trowbridge and the surrounding areas. Youth - We provide youth clubs in the Seymour, Longfield and Studley Green areas of Trowbridge and a detached project across the community working with young people to improve the existing stake park and establish better provisions for young people in the local area. Helping to gain better spaces and activities for the young people and provide them with a safe place to obtain advice, guidance and information on various topics such as mental health, sexual health, life skills, bullying, cyber bullying and other issues that face teenagers. We work to support young people with qualified youth workers to talk with and engage them to help increase motivation, self-esteem and confidence. Community Hub - We also run two community hubs on the Seymour estate and within The Shires shopping centre in Trowbridge. The door is open to everyone in the community and we can provide help with signposting, offering advice and regularly display local notices and information. We also host various support groups across Trowbridge, including a kindness cafe every friday morning. We also run three community fridges distributing unsold food waste to local residents. Neighbourhoods - Trowbridge Future provides support to local community groups and residents associations to help local people address any specific needs and concerns that they have identified. Trowbridge Future have litter picking equipment that they regular lend to local residents groups free of charge.

We're a national charity & believe in the empowering impact of book ownership. We gift books that children have grown out of, to those with few of their own, and want every child to experience the emotional pleasure and escapism of a book that they have chosen themselves. **** As many in 1 in 8 disadvantaged children owns no books of their own, whilst 1 in 4 has fewer than ten books. Lack of access to their own books has a significant impact on a child's identity as a reader and as part of their reading community, whilst by age eleven there is a 12 month language development gap between those from 'book rich' and 'book poor' homes. Our goal is simple: to find new homes for the hundreds of thousands of books that children have read and no longer need. Giving families an opportunity to recycle their books helps them to free up space at home, makes use of an idle resource and ensures that every book reaches the widest readership. **** Our book hubs are in London, Leeds and Birmingham and with the help of volunteers have grown organically over the past ten years. This school year we will gift in excess of 1 million books to children and young people throughout the UK. This has only been possible with the help of corporate volunteer support and support in kind (e.g. financial or logistical). We welcome all engagement from organisations that may wish to support us in any of the following ways.
