Bude Community Larder
Bude, UK
We are a small team of people working hard in the community to help tackle food surplus going to waste by giving it back to the community, helping support those struggling through food poverty or just those creative cooks also this helps peoples passionate about reducing their carbon footprint by saving food from being wasted. We run a once a week pop up hub based at our local library, creating a friendly environment for people to come and help themselves to produce form local businesses. Our team of volunteers at the pop up hub are friendly and welcoming to people using the larder. The volunteers collect the food and check it all before displaying it for the public. Once set up welcomed people are left to come along and collect food every Wednesday afternoon. The food is available to everyone at no cost but there is a donations pot should anyone want to contribute to the project. We aim to progress and get a permanent venue and be open more often once we have other avenues for food surplus to be collected. At present we collect form from Co-op, Lidl and Cornwall Gleaning network. We also receive donations of food from local growers when they have surpluses and from residents who are doing store cupboard clear outs. .
