Sainsbury's Isle Of Wight

Feeding Isle of Wight runs a surplus food distribution centre on the Isle of Wight. This was set up to prevent surplus food being returned to the mainland to go into landfill. The aim is to help prevent hunger in an area of high deprivation. We distribute to various food charities on the Island. We also run a food pantry in Cowes from the front of the distribution centre. We offer various wraparound care including a Digital Network Hub.

By Connecting with food stores and local producers to prevent useable products going to landfill, including food, toiletries and cleaning products, our aim is to use these items by hosting monthly community cook ups at St Saviours Church in Totland and to put daily collections of products at West Wight Sport and Community Centre, made available to the general public on a “pay as you feel” basis.

Sophie's Legacy was set up after Sophie wrote a bucket list before she died of cancer aged 10. She wanted things to change and this is now her legacy. Sophie's Legacy supports families admitted to hospital with their children. This can be feeding parents, providing toiletries, parent packs with essential items, transport, clothing. family support workers etc. We also advocate for national change to improve things for children with cancer by working with the government. We are working with the NHS to try and ensure parents are fed when admitted with their children regardless of why they are admitted. We would also like to improve play services for children in hospital.
