Sainsbury's Isle Of Wight

Feeding Isle of Wight runs a surplus food distribution centre on the Isle of Wight. This was set up to prevent surplus food being returned to the mainland to go into landfill. The aim is to help prevent hunger in an area of high deprivation. We distribute to various food charities on the Island. We also run a food pantry in Cowes from the front of the distribution centre. We offer various wraparound care including a Digital Network Hub.

By Connecting with food stores and local producers to prevent useable products going to landfill, including food, toiletries and cleaning products, our aim is to use these items by hosting monthly community cook ups at St Saviours Church in Totland and to put daily collections of products at West Wight Sport and Community Centre, made available to the general public on a “pay as you feel” basis.

We provide emergency food and support to local people in crisis. This is primarily achieved through the public donating food at supermarket collection points or at our main head office. Volunteers then help to sort and date food to be distributed to our 5 Foodbanks. Our trusted and supportive professionals at over 100 referral agencies give a foodbank voucher to people in crisis and these can be exchanged for three days worth of food at one of our foodbanks .
