The Rough Sleeping Pathway in Portsmouth is a way that The Society of St James (SSJ) and Portsmouth City Council helps people who are homeless, rough sleeping, or at risk of homelessness. It has two temporary hostels that give different kinds of tailored support to over 80 people. SSJ believes that everyone has a fundamental human right to a safe home and works to end homelessness. The hostels are set up in different buildings to provide support that meets the different needs and preferences of the people staying there. The goal of these temporary homes is to help people gain life skills and access services so they can prepare for independence and move on to more permanent home . SSJ understands that the system for housing people can be "broken" so we walk beside people to navigate it. Providing this kind of support shows a moral responsibility to ensure everyone has a safe and secure place to live. The Rough Sleeping Pathway's size, helping over 80 people, shows a significant effort to tackle homelessness in Portsmouth.

MUNCH at Park Community School They recognized the issue of food poverty in their community and started a community group called MUNCH to address it, after hearing that the local food bank regularly faced shortages. The organization has reached out to outside agencies for funding and is now providing free nutritious meals and activities for children and their families who attend any Leigh Park school during school holidays. They offer play equipment and learning practitioners to help children learn math and English skills through play. The school nurse is available to address any concerns parents may have. Helping over 150 People a week.

KANON.foodshare: Fighting Food Waste, Poverty, and Hunger About Us: KANON.foodshare is a charitable organization founded by RAF Hrabal, who has been living in the Copnor/Hilsea area since 2004. The organisation was started in year 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, to support the local community by sharing surplus food that would otherwise go to waste. KANON.foodshare operates as a small, not-for-profit social enterprise focused on tackling food waste and economic poverty at a local level. It is also the most neighbourly-friendly organization in the city, operating and welcoming guests from the comfort of a private home. Mission & Vision: KANON.foodshare's mission is to tackle food waste, fight poverty and hunger, and help build stable, resilient, and thriving communities based on neighbourly cooperation and mutual support. The organisation collects surplus food from local food businesses and redistributes it among individual customers and other charitable organizations. The organisation has received the PEACE AWARD from The Peace Centre and the FREEDOM of the City of Portsmouth by the Lord Mayor for their sterling efforts in carrying on regardless right through the Covid-19 Health Crisis!
